You weigh up the risks of any decision and go with that, as with any business. Could it happen again? Of course. But is it likely? Not at all. And if it doesn't happen, then the consequences (dropping to semi-pro level) are pretty dire. I like Pearson, I really do. But it's not worked out for him in Belgium and the time has come for him to move aside. Sentiment is all well and good but it's a results business and Pearson hasn't delivered. Hopefully a new manager has enough time to turn this season around for OHL. Spot on! If we would drop to the amateur division we would literally be playing teams that consist of schoolteachers, truckdrivers, etc... This would be the same thing as Leicester dropping to the Vanarama National League. The games in the amateur division are not broadcasted on TV, so we would lose out on TV money. With a bit of luck you could find a match report on the last pages of monday's newspaper. This would also mean losing some sponsors. Relegation would also mean a big drop in (season) ticket sales. Teams in the amateur division don't bring a lot of away fans. Even some teams (like Tubize and Roeselare) in 2nd division only have about 15 away fans. You can imagine all of this would be a financial disaster for King Power and OHL. This would mean they would have to cut on costs, so some people who work full-time for the club would lose their job. The biggest problem would be our youth teams. Our academy is top tier in Belgium, so they play the other best academies week in and out. If we would relegate, our academy would lose it's "Elite" status and they would have to play youth teams of the clubs in amateur division. This means our best youth prospects would leave the club FOR FREE to go play for Anderlecht, Mechelen, Sint-truiden. Although our club has done some stupid shit in the past, they did a really good job developing a great academy. Relegation would immediatly erase about 15 years of hard work. I would gladly play in second division for another 10 years without any complains, but relegation really is not an option!!! 12

Lizhang Posted 2 February 2019 Share Posted 2 February 2019 Exactly Bonanza, like i said before, it would be dramatic for our youth acadamy. The elite youth teams would be disbanded, players would leave, so would trainers. If this should happen, we'll never forgive Pearson nor King Power. 2 minutes ago, reynard said: Are there managers available to come and is there enough time left to make a difference? At the end of the season, the bottom 4 teams enter the play-downs. Supposedly, there are talks with Vercauteren. Former national player, former Anderlecht & Genk coach (won 2 titles with Anderlecht, and 1 with Genk) and got Cercle promoted last year (won the 2nd division). CloudFox Posted 3 February 2019 Share Posted 3 February 2019 I have a lot of respect for Pearson, but Leuven really need someone parachuted in there to save them. I think saying it would be a "financial disaster" for King Power is a bit over an over statement. Leicester get over £100m a season for being in the Premier League and I'm sure even at that level it, although not great, wouldn't destroy King Power if LCFC were relegated. Not sure what the TV money and prize money is for OL's league but I'd imagine it would be no greater than a £1m (although I may be under estimating) if the that's the case we're talking 1% of lCFC revenue for TV and prize. Of course money aside, no one wants to see you get relegated and I really do hope you (we) can turn it around. I think you can be rest assured though that if you do get relegated it would make the owners more eager to sort out the mess. IMO, the best thing to ever happen to Leicester City was getting relegated to League 1. It felt like the world had ended that fateful day when we drew 0-0 at Stoke to put us into the third tier of English football for the first time but we've not looked back since. How many teams go down out of the four in the relegation playoffs? Since it certainly can't be all 4 then it really doesn't matter if you lose the next 4 games as long as you don't lose in the play offs. P.S. Anyone else hate this Belgian expression of play-downs? It makes no sense, we don't have play-ups, it's a relegation playoff!!

But it would a disaster for our youth teams, since by dropping to amateur level, we would not be able (allowed) to have elite youth teams anymore. We have one of the top youth academies of the country, and since our youths wouldn't play other elite youth teams anymore in that scenario, all or best talents and prospects, as well as the entire staff and trainers of the youth academy, would leave. This is not rebuilt in one or two years, we would have to start over from absolute 0. It's an entire generation of kids that would be lost. 1 hour ago, FIF said: How many teams go down out of the four in the relegation playoffs? It makes no sense, we don't have play-ups, it's a relegation playoff!! One team goes down, but you start with half the points from the regular ranking. So, if you finish last in the regular season, you'll start the playdowns in last place. The gap will effectively have been reduced by half, but still you 'd be in a disadvantage. And, well, we're in last place at the moment. So it very much matters if we lose the next 4 games, contrary to what you stated. Playdowns, is just a term, a way for everyone to know what you're talking about. We used to have Play-off 1, Play-off 2 and Play-off 3. Since the last reformation of the top leagues, the last Play-offs were those that decided who dropped out of pro football, people just started to talk about Playdown, because for people who didn't know what Play-off 1, 2 or 3 was about, it would be clear which play-off people are talking about. Also, usually, play-offs are to get promoted, to win something... not to lose something. Edited 3 February 2019 by Lizhang 1

Permafrost Posted 3 February 2019 Share Posted 3 February 2019 The only strange thing to me is the fact that's it taken this long for Leicester fans on this thread to realise Pearson is a busted flush. A lot of this thread is Leicester fans telling OHL fans to have patience and Pearson is wonderful and being somewhat patronising to them regarding their impending drop to non-league status. He's an arrogant "balloon-head". And unfortunately always will be. I think Top needs to act now.

TheMightySystem Posted 3 February 2019 Share Posted 3 February 2019 Pearson gone Oud-Heverlee Leuven ends the collaboration with Nigel Pearson. Read MORE here: https://www.ohleuven.com/nieuws/1046701/ 1
TheMightySystem Posted 3 February 2019 Share Posted 3 February 2019 The article put through google translate Oud-Heverlee Leuven has decided on Sunday to end the collaboration with manager Nigel Pearson. Nigel was appointed as manager of OHL in September 2017. His extensive know-how and experience have helped to bring about the infrastructure, the processes and a professional culture. The board of directors is convinced that this will contribute to the further growth and development of OH Leuven to a long-term success. We can not, however, look next to the bad results that have put OHL in a difficult position. Therefore, the board of directors finds it necessary to make a change in order to positively influence the results of the upcoming matches. Everyone at OHL is grateful for the work Nigel has done over the past 16 months and wishes him every success in his future career. Joachim Mununga will take care of the preparation for Saturday's away game at Mechelen. The club is now looking for a new manager.
