He's got a point though... if we pay £25 mil for him and then he is a revelation and scores 60-70 goals over the next two seasons then his worth in the market would easily be £80 mil considering the going price these days.

Still an amazing signing though, now please just another defender!!

Well they're not going to insist on a buyback which reflects the market value as it wouldn't benefit them.

£50m is fair, they could save upto £20m and we get exactly £50m, no budging, should City want to re-sign him. Even if they don't it's a bargaining chip to any other transfer he might make.

They must rate him to put something like that in there. Even in today's inflated market £50m buys you a proven player. Players are moving for those kinds of prices but only if they're quality and in demand.

If...... and if he doesn't want to go back to them he doesn't have too.

Let's d/w the here and now shall we?

He will have to go back if they want him even if he didn't want to go.

Still it's a brilliant signing for us, he's right up there with the best young players in the world, he's as much chance of being a future world class player as anyone his age or younger in the world.

The only downside is that any future profit is limited but cest la vie.

I don't believe that's the case. You can't force a player to sign a contract. If he wants to go back to Man City then the price is fixed.

sold for 60m

I'm not 100% sure either but I'd bet you're wrong.

It will have been part of the contract that Man City can exercise their right to buy. I believe Morata had to go back to Real Madrid last season as he had a similar clause.

Otherwise these buy back clauses are almost worthless if they depend on third party agreements to enforce them.

Correct.

Massive statement of intent signing this lad. Just need a decent full back to challenge Simpson and a creative midfielder.

You're both right and wrong.

Essentially the buy back clause is between Leicester and Man City. Basic contract law does not allow a party not subject to a contractual agreement to be bound by the burden of said contract.

In the same sense, it could be argued that the player is a party to the contract - not just referenced. It's all ifs and buts.

However, where this may differ if there is a "second" agreement between the player and the beneficiary club (in this case, Man City). This second agreement may specify the terms, length, sell on, bonuses etc which may be agreed between the parties in the next two years. Whether one exists between the player and Man City, well your guess is as good of mine.

A person cannot be forced to agree to a move unless they do so on their own terms, conditions and will. The essence of the subsequent contract would come into question and be a good case for the defence of duress.

@RoyFox loves these

Certainly do. Funnily enough I've noticed Gray has recently started to take less of the 30 yard pot shots, I did inundate him with his shot locations maps tbf ?

Didn't Gray just take another pot shot vs Burton? Though my stream was shit so he may have had better shots?

He did one, but he crossed/played the ball into the box on a few occasions, when before he would have taken a stab. In all seriousness we've got about 5 video and data analysts now, and Shakey is slowly starting to show signs of expected goals lingo - so I'd expect someone's in Gray's ear about this.

Manchester City Nigerian forward Kelechi Iheanacho has joined Leicester City per pictures first released by this portal when he arrived the King Power Stadium for a medical.

The deal according to Owngoalnigeria.com reliable sources will cost Leicester City an initial sum of 27 million pounds as transfer fee for a four year contract with the option of a further year.

Leicester City have also agreed to pay him a weekly wage of around 70,000 pounds a week, which will be almost twice the amount he was earning at Manchester City after penning a new deal last summer.

Manchester City have also inserted a buy back fee in his deal with Leicester City forcing them to agree on a buy back fee of 50 million pounds, if they qualify for the Champions League and City wants him back.

The fee will be considerably less if Leicester fail to make the UEFA Champions League and City wants him back during his four year or possibly five year stay with Leicester City.

Plus info from a previous OGN article, the buy back is 37.5m if we don't make CL in 4 years, and 50m if we do make CL.

looks like we now have an added incentive to achieve CL football again, we'll need to spend a lot more to achieve that when competing with the big boys now that's for sure.

If we get a striker that nets 30-35 goals a season, then getting a smaller profit off of him will frankly be the least of our worries. In reality it's no different to the Kanté story or the impending Mahrez one. If however Iheanacho turns out to be a flop, then no one will worry about a buyback clause...
