mozartfox Posted 13 August 2017 Posted 13 August 2017 Good for them.. How much did they sell Matic for? Are we really perceived as a bunch of idiots? May be they think our DoF is not up to much?
Edingleyfox Posted 13 August 2017 Posted 13 August 2017 Most important thing about Drinkwater and Mahrez situations is that there is a swift resolution. We dont want to find ourselves short with 2 days left in the window. Cannot afford to lose both and we are not full of cover in the centre of the park as we saw on Friday. We could do with one real quality player like N'Zonzi but release clause there 40 million.I think we have enough wingers and we need to find a place for Gray etc

That bid was £15 million and they are not prepared to increase this. The bid was obviously rejected. Sorry should be a bit clearer the source is from someone at Chelsea not Leicester. Chelsea will have the in-premier league revenue knocking on their door for non payment of the English player tax.
sylofox Posted 13 August 2017 Posted 13 August 2017 Incoming ??? From a Chelsea itk that backed this storey up at the very start. Expects a bid to be made this week of around 32m. He also says that 15m supposed bid is bollox.

ronnup Posted 13 August 2017 Posted 13 August 2017 Money is irrelevant, it's about a replacement. I'd be gutted to see him go, love the player, but if he does the only real concern for the season is there a relaxer lined up. NZonzi?

Danny will want to leave if they are asking but he won't if the offer is derisory to the club. I could be completely misguided here but I have DD down as man with a bit of integrity and he won't be happy to push through for a move unless it benefits both parties. I think he deserves a proper crack at one of the big 6, that has been what he has striven for in recent years and to deny him that would be unfair. We all think we are the best employee at work in our minds and probably feel the place would collapse if we left but the reallity is, it doesn't, the company continues. We will still survive without him and players moving on is just part and parcel of football. Personally, I'd like him to stay but we will see.

Cadno'r Cymoedd Posted 13 August 2017 Posted 13 August 2017 If Chelsea come in close to £35 million, we should sell. At that point his head will have been turned I reckon, and we saw what a sulky DD might be like in the latter part of last season for some spells, perhaps out of frustration with his own poor form/fitness. With that money and bit more if needed we might be able to get a real creative midfielder. Not irreplaceable but let's get the cash needed if we must sell.

coolhandfox Posted 13 August 2017 Posted 13 August 2017 Yes get a feel this is another player who want out like Mahrez. Just a shame they both could'nt put in the same performances as the league winning season! If they had we could be in a position where they would be happy to stay.

Finding a replacement is not going to be easy.. Our recruitment squad had months to sort out last summers incomings and look what happened there. Do you seriously trust them to find a replacement in 3 weeks? To let him go with no one ready to come straight in, would be tantamount to negligence.
st albans fox Posted 13 August 2017 Posted 13 August 2017 Why stop with nzonzi - there must be dozens of players out there who wouldn't come here we could bid for ! anyone think of someone who could a actually replace DD who we could actually sign. I'm worrried after our lack of any kind of ball retention late on Friday. Iborra can't be expected to just click into place and we have no idea how long he will actually be out for. DD knows the way we operate. i do wonder if Iborra's surprise signing was with this sale in mind. Shame papy can't get fit because he should be able to put his foot on the ball and find a man in blue.
Gerard Posted 13 August 2017 Posted 13 August 2017 8 hours ago, Albert said: Chelsea's desperate need for a CM (especially an English one) automatically adds at least another £5m+ on top of the clubs valuation of Drinky and I'm sure this factor will be used in a transfer negotiation, if there even is one! The fact they sold Ake for £20m also justifies a valuation of at least £35m in the current market. Im a massive Drinky fan and would hate to see him leave but his type of player is easily replaceable. If we slapped a £40m price tag on him and Chelsea were willing to pay it I think it would make sense to sell I'm a fan of Drinkwater, I thought he was brilliant for all but the last three months under Ranieri's reign. He has been very average since about November and that's being kind. Whilst for footballing reasons I'd prefer to keep him he's not essential to us like a Vardy, Schmeichel or I daresay Mahrez. It's all about price and for me and the gray area is £25m-£30m. Anything under £25m I would refuse and anything over £30m I would accept. With Ndidi as an automatic first teamer it wouldn't be the worst thing to cash in on Drinkwater and leave an opening for James, Iborra and Mendy to compete to fill that void. I'm a great believer in selling players when they've reached their value peak especially if they're not essential to us.
Rhysm Posted 13 August 2017 Posted 13 August 2017 In secret footballer book, they reckon that at any time you will have several replacements for every position should last minute bids come in. Not it confident that is the case with us in light of recent transfer windows.

Dan Gliballs Posted 13 August 2017 Posted 13 August 2017 Nzonzi won't be coming here whether we trigger any release claue or not, he wants Champions League football. In all reality, IF Danny leaves, we'll probably end up in for Clucas, or someone of similar calibre.
dannythefox Posted 13 August 2017 Posted 13 August 2017 Not the right time to sell him going to cause us problems. Next season he can go.
woznotwos Posted 13 August 2017 Posted 13 August 2017 Hijack W.Carvalho from his potential move to West Ham from Sporting ?

Tuna Posted 13 August 2017 Posted 13 August 2017 My big questions are: 1) Do we have alternatives lined up should he go? 2) Do we have the ability to pull it off? My suspicion is no and no.
