Which prompts this ignorant -- but genuine --question. Nacho is coming ready. Shinji is indispensable ground cover, no stranger to breaking up a play or sending the through ball to Vardy, but only so much of a finishing weapon. A keener blade is now coming into the forward line, while we still have questionable central linking pieces. If we get that offer we can’t refuse for DD, what are the chances Shinji could refashion his game into a forward facing CM to rotate with Ndidi and James? Not to play wide, just further back. He already runs his ass off between the boxes. He could still move forward, even during a game. (Not that I'm thinking Rooney or anything.) Is this feasible? If so how long would it take? If not, pile on my bros.

foxinsocks Posted 13 August 2017 Posted 13 August 2017 Having just watched man utd (with a system and the players ) set the bar.. expect chelski to be panic buying

Spuds must be drooling. We all know what they can do against a makeshift midfield and back line. If DD is ready to play, they may look at his experience with Ngolo and see the answer to a Hail Mary.
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 13 August 2017 Posted 13 August 2017 If they offer 50 million then maybe? But we have to have an adequate replacement lined up we wont have so it's a no from me
st albans fox Posted 13 August 2017 Posted 13 August 2017 Drinkwater is our heartbeat. Before his injury last season he dictated our tempo. Thereafter he dropped off but remained vital. The thought of him not playing in our midfield was really scary. wilf's arrival has helped but drinky's ability cannot be underestimated. To allow him to leave would be a big mistake. Friday night already showed that we can compete with the top six and we should set our sights high again. the players should realise that the club and the supporters expect great things again. No reason to be talking about making top half. That's far too conservative.

Callabinho Posted 13 August 2017 Posted 13 August 2017 If Siggy is valued at £50...and Drinky being English....£70-80mill take it or leave it.
ARM1968 Posted 13 August 2017 Posted 13 August 2017 Chelsea going to panic after they get ragged by Spuds next match.

mozartfox Posted 14 August 2017 Posted 14 August 2017 Where can you get a lawn mower for 50 quid? Monchi's Garden Centre in Rome?

FoxinNotts Posted 14 August 2017 Posted 14 August 2017 Alternative suggestion: Jack Wilshere? Good mates with Vardy, apparently. Would need to stay fit (I know, I know). Would only cost £8m, but get him fit, and he could provide good competition in that role with James and Iborra.

He was toss at Bournemouth last year and getting him to stay fit appears pretty much impossible.
RODNEY FERNIO Posted 14 August 2017 Posted 14 August 2017 Think the panic button might have already been pressed at Chelsea. Chelsea's next six league fixtures : Spurs , Everton , us , Arsenal . Stoke , Man City. Kante their only available senior midfielder for Spurs match . Another no to Wilshere as well , overrated , injury prone and likely to cause more off field than on field headlines

Averages less than one tackle per game (Drinkwater 5th best in the PL last season with 3). Just what we need playing 442.
st albans fox Posted 14 August 2017 Posted 14 August 2017 Can we stop putting forward attacking midfield options as an alternative to drinky. He is ostensibly a defensive minded midfielder but his strength is the fact that he is comfortable pushing forward (especially into wide areas) and he has a good forward pass on him. how much would Liverpool want for Henderson? Around 50m I reckon. That's what we should ask for drinkwater. but we shouldn't be considering a sale without an effective replacement in any case and I don't know who is out there who could play like drinky does. Admittedly I don't play FIFA !
ZeGuy Posted 14 August 2017 Posted 14 August 2017 Don't sell him, no matter the price. We won't find an adequate replacement in only three weeks.

Problem is, whoever we try and buy is going to end up doing the same to us as they know we need to get someone in ASAP.
