Drinkwater

Every player has a price though.

Anything over £30m has to seriously be considered and anything over £35m has to be a yes IMO.

Whilst Drinkwater is one of our better players he isn't as vital as Vardy, Schmeichel and Mahrez. With Ndidi there now if Danny left it leaves a gap for James, Mendy or Iborra to secure that role. Anything north of £30m is surely good business from us?

We're not a selling club, therefore every player doesn't have a price. Certainly not if we want to make ourselves a European team as has been stated.

I love James but he's only played 1 Prem game in 2 years, Mendy is obviously not in Shakey's plans - he didn't even get a pre-season minute, Iborra is being talked up a lot on here but has shown nothing so far. In the Prem you need at least 3 reliable class CMs. Drinky is our best and we'd be stupid to sell him.

There's a chance Matty James keeps him out the team anyway. I also see Adrien Silva hasn't got his move yet.

With James, Iborra and Mendy I'd be quite happy to sell DD for £35m and let those three compete for his place and if thats a failure possibly replace in January. At £35m we have to sell IMO as he's a player who has been average at best for the last nine months and his influence has receded in the team in that time.

Let's get a class CM in first before we sell him if it's that easy to sign them.

We don't seem to be a popular destination for top players do we?

We all know how good he can be for a club like us but the money being touted is an awful lot for a player who isn't going to be a regular starter

Peanuts to them and we paid 30m for slim so I don't get your point.

Oh did we buy Slim as a squad player? and he was a panic buy so I don't get your point either

I've heard from a friend that he's off.

Well  keeping Shaky has worked wonders to keep the good players together!

It's got nothing to do with the manager, anyone suggesting such is just agenda driven. We were premier league champions with a premier league winning manager at the helm and Kante still wanted out.

It's about players being ambitious to play for big clubs, or to sit on their bench earning twice the money they are on here, playing about 5 games a season. It's going to happen no matter who is in charge if the player is so inclined to want that.

Could do worse, could do better

we can always get him back on loan in January when the new Chelsea manager decides he doesn't fancy him

Correct - he has had a tough season playing through an injury. Maybe he feels that playing a dozen games this campaign  for twice the money isn't such a bad call. If it didn't work for him and he leaves next summer then his four year contract at 130k/week will see him more than alright in any case. It's his job remember!

So you think slim has been more than a squad player since he arrived. Even when not injured he's hardly been regular.

If we swapped DD for Delph and a quality CB, would people be more inclined to be happy?

If Delph could recapture his Villa form, its a yes from me

So now we are a 'selling' Club?. Last week I recall Shakey we were not. This master plan is very confusing.

I think we need a quality CB regardless. Even though we have plenty of central midfielders, personally i think most of them are either not good enough (Amartey & King) or won't fit our 442 playing style (Iborra & Mendy). I'd be happy with Delph if DD doesn't leave but if he does i'd want a top quality midfielder, especially if Riyad gets his wish and leaves aswell.

It's not about being a "selling club". All clubs are selling clubs for the right offer.

Drinkwater isn't irreplaceable, if we got an offer that we considered far exceeded his worth then it's good business to sell.

My point was really, maybe the money from him makes the difference in getting the quality we need at CB, rather than another filler / risk.

Only because he's been rubbish. We didn't sign him to be a squad player!

I guess we will keep the players we want but not the players we dont. Kick in the teeth for DD though who has been loyal to us thus far... but the blow will be softened going to a club like chelsea though maybe.;;;
