Sharpe's Fox Posted 5 August 2017 Posted 5 August 2017 Big question at LB this season where you feel this should be the year Chilwell starts making his impact on the side permanently. However Fuchs has always been solid for us. So would you start with the dependable veteran or the home grown prodigy?
Milo Posted 5 August 2017 Posted 5 August 2017 Fuchs for defending against better teams, and Chilly for marauding down the left against the less strong teams for me
Kinowe Soorie Posted 5 August 2017 Posted 5 August 2017 Fuchs, Chilwell is still too naive defensively.
Countryfox Posted 5 August 2017 Posted 5 August 2017 Fuchs v Chilwell ??? ..... Fuchs, knockout in the third ...
StriderHiryu Posted 5 August 2017 Posted 5 August 2017 Fuchs, but expect Chilwell to start 20 ish games in league and cup. Honestly if Fuchs wasn't so good we'd probably already be starting Chilwell. I agree that he's got a lot to learn and has some naivety, but he's clearly going to be a great player and compete for an England spot.
egg_fried_rice Posted 5 August 2017 Posted 5 August 2017 I think both will have a significant part to play this season. It's so refreshing after years (decades?) of mediocrity or worse in that position to have two genuinely talented players to pick from.
Countryfox Posted 5 August 2017 Posted 5 August 2017 What annoys me is that we have some brilliant players and excellent young understudies that will soon replace them ... But said understudies bleat on about not getting enough game time ... Not saying this is Chilwell (although his bottom lip did come out a bit !) .. But this thread reminded me of it.
Guest Posted 5 August 2017 Posted 5 August 2017 Dafted question ever. Do we play our best ever left back or a young lad that's good going forward away at arsenal? Has to be Fuchs!
Ian Nacho Posted 5 August 2017 Posted 5 August 2017 Fuchs is better defensively and also creatively, Chilwell is better in an attacking sense but Fuchs is better in my opinion. Got an experienced head.
Webbo Posted 5 August 2017 Posted 5 August 2017 Stick Chilwell on the wing against the better teams, especially if Mahrez goes.
shen Posted 5 August 2017 Posted 5 August 2017 Fuchs is still a level above. They both share similar weaknesses when facing fast/tricky wingers, but Fuchs is far superior in the air and more disciplined defensively which is absolutely crucial if we are to avoid weekly drubbings. I feel Chilwell needs to show considerable improvement defensively (and with his delivery) this season if he is to stake a claim for the leftback spot now and in the future.
Izzy Posted 5 August 2017 Posted 5 August 2017 Fuchs or Chilwell is a nice problem to have. The LB position is the least of our worries really..
Sol thewall Bamba Posted 5 August 2017 Posted 5 August 2017 Still Fuchs for me but Chilly coming in towards the end of the season ready for CF's departure.
chris_lcfc_85 Posted 5 August 2017 Posted 5 August 2017 Chilwell is more exciting going forward as he's confident and pacey but Fuchs still has a better final ball and is a better defender currently so has to be Fuchs although Chilwell's time will come. Shame we didnt have a similar problem in the right back position!
Foxxed Posted 5 August 2017 Posted 5 August 2017 Chilwell looks incredibly charged and dangerous moving forward, although he's not got Fuchs's passing or crossing ability as yet. Fuchs seems a more solid defender but then Chilwell is still young and he has improved massively from last season with only limited first team chances too. Fuchs is still the first team choice as left back for me, and Chilwell as wing back, but if Chilwell keeps improving at the rate he is I could see that changing.
Happy Fox Posted 5 August 2017 Posted 5 August 2017 Chilwell will only get better with game time, I would start him more than last season, but Fuchs is more reliable defensively, it's good to have two options at LB we need the same at RB!
Guest Posted 5 August 2017 Posted 5 August 2017 Chilwell every day. Fuchs was a waste of space last season. He doesn't care about defending anymore, more interested in his clothes line.
iamafox Posted 5 August 2017 Posted 5 August 2017 Fuchs, without question. Chilwell is a great prospect but still has room for improvement.
AKCJ Posted 5 August 2017 Posted 5 August 2017 I think it's very close right now. All depends on the start of the season. I think I'd give Fuchs the first 8-10 games and then reassess. Can see Chilwell eventually becoming a winger in 2/3 years though to be fair considering his dribbling skills.
SouthStandUpperTier Posted 5 August 2017 Posted 5 August 2017 Fuchs can cross a ball. Chilwell can't. So Fuchs for me.
norwichfox Posted 5 August 2017 Posted 5 August 2017 Fuchs until Chilwell can take a knock from a well struck ball in the defensive wall without turning away. Good prospect is Chilewell though.
