Safe standing - time to act

Fair enough. Personally for me I think it would be great to get everyone that likes to stand together but know that’s impossible.

If it were up to me, knowing there will always be demand for a standing area next to the away fans I'd have two areas. One area of 1000 ish spaces at the Kop end to act as the focal point for the Kop and the South East corner.

Then shift ~1000 of the away fans up from the family stand side of the away end up into a second tier above the other half of the away end that currently buts up to L1. That frees up spaces in the North stand for a new home standing area, throw everyone from L1/K1 in there, freeing up the east stand for executive boxes.

Is L1 considered a problem area? I know the question sounds naive, but I'm trying to be reasonable rather than jump to conclusions based on my experiences in that area of the ground. I wonder whether letting them 'stand' causes more or less of a potential problem...

Personally would just like to have a bit more character. Some statues or pictures of former players would be nice.

Our ground is proper boring. Got nothing to do with the club around it aside from the crest in the glass. I'm glad they've put that "Leicester City" text up around the outside of the ground but we could easily have a player in each of those slots instead of letters.

We could take ideas from other grounds. I like the outside of Goodison Park/Etihad, probably more but I cannot remember atm, where it goes through the club's history.

We used to have some banners outside and of course the one that went all around the inside, all we seem to have now is a few photos on the concourse walls; as great as the owners are there needs to be more of a nod to our history than just the pre-match video, it's all King Power plus the promised museum never materialised.

Let's hope the expansion sees a change of direction to a more LCFC related venue.

Yeah I can remember the ones outside too, Lineker was bang in the middle of them. The inside ones only came down recently I think.

Still love that pre-match vid though🦊

I mean, it's one of the more boisterous areas of the ground since it's right next to the away fans, but I wouldn't call it a 'problem' area. A couple of oddballs right at the back near Jobber's drum, but it's really just an area where the stewards are lax with standers, because everyone does it. I was near the front and stood every game, and sometimes it reached all the way to row A.

Hell, my abiding memory of any actual trouble in recent times came from kids on the other side stirring it up - can't remember the opponent but Newcastle and Tottenham spring to mind?

When grown men in that away end started trying to square up to 12 year olds, L1 let out a hearty chorus of 'that is our family stand'. :fishing:

EDIT - though come to think, they did stop giving us clappers after some people started chucking them at the away end. :plancque:

Nothing wrong the multimedia side of things. They have really improved that in recent years and fair play to the media department or whoever it is.

What do you mean? As in we can chose to stand or sit?

As in you can chose to go in a part of the ground that has a standing section or a part with seating.

i.e. choosing whether you want to sit or stand, what else would I mean.

Yeah although I imagine there will be a high demand for the standing part

Depends on the split and how much rail sitting they put in.

Would be nice to see some English versions of Dortmund yellow wall.

Given the whole Super League debacle it’s clear fan action still has a lot of sway. If there was more organised action in regards to rail seating, twenty’s plenty etc. we’d probably see a lot more movement on the issue as well as more press. It’s far too easy for the club to avoid having any strong position on it at the moment.

These people need to be much more active and in the face of the Football Authorities.
