Conte will play kantè and bakayoko to stop the creativity coming from midfield lol , conte, you poor summer child, the joke's on you because we don't have any creativity from the midfield.

Wing backs. Let's use wing backs. Ndidi and whoever comes to training without a plaster cast around his leg can attempt to hold midfield. Maguire, Morgan and Fuchs and do that defending thing they seem quite keen on. Chilwell and do that running with the ball and passing it to other players thing. Albrighton's good at that too. Then Mahrez, Ian and Vardy up front. SEX.

You would like to think that as professionals they would be able to play more than one formation wouldn't you? If not for this game they should be able to change tactics mid game  if circumstances change. If they don't do any work on this you'd have to question the quality of the coaching. Compared with last time we have better players available.

The chances are that Chelsea will play a 352. Ignoring the wing backs, if we play the same team as against Man United, how do see Ndidi and James fairing against Fabregas, Bakayoko and Willian with Hazard buzzing around somewhere as well?

With two days preparation it would be suicidal. You are way under playing the training what goes into defensive shape when learning a new fornation.

This is all teams, across the country. You'd need a good week to properly learn what to do.

Not sure it is wise to try to match up their formation, especially given the lack of prep time. We tried that in the home game last season and they battered us. I think a better bet is to play to our own strengths and try to exploit the wide areas behind their wing backs.

Unless he had one of those mysterious transfer willy puller injuries?

Still isn't match fit though bob and even if had a convenient injury, he wouldn't have been fully training

Fair play, it just makes you wonder sometimes with so many "flakey" injury prone until big move comes through type players about these days. :D

I think we will see the same team that started at Man U.

Hopefully Shakey will be prepared to make early changes if it isn't going well though.

Would like to see Iheanacho get a decent chunk of game time.

Silva and him to start next game perhaps, unless we have a storming performance against Chelsea.

Slimani and Gray to also come on if we need to change the game. What a bench we now have!

Shinji is often a waste of time post international break. He simply can't do the same workload due to fatigue. I'd go with Slim as Chelsea's defence struggles with physicality.

To add, we'd help ourselves with no easy goals off set pieces

Back in light training I heard last. Probably too early for him

So it's a real injury then?

This is sad but true.

Dragivic should start.  Iborra if fit and Silva if signed should start.  Ihenacho should start.  But I won't be surprised at all if it's the same 11 who lost to the other two top-six teams we've played this season.

Good old-fashioned 4-4-2 where we get overrun in midfield, and some City fans cling to the fact that we only lost by a few goals as some sort of positive.

This.

Think you missed my point, it shouldn't be a 'NEW' formation to them. Unless they are completely thick they should know how to play in other formations. If they can only play 442 then the coaching staff should all be sacked. They have had all day every day for a number of years as professionals to be taught this. Do you think when the likes of Vardy gets called up for England,  Southgate is likely to say 'sorry mate, I was going to play you but you only know 442' or leave Cahill out because Chelsea play 3 at the back and England want to play with 4?. I think they're a bit better than that.

Excited to see football back, excited to see the new squad, also a little excited to see DD and how he does.

I challenge anyone who in their work life wouldn't turn down a job in one of the best companies in their sector.

Would appear Drinkpoison might "suddenly" be ready for Saturday after all . . . . Make of that what you will . . . .
