You don't leave it till the last week to start bidding for players.

Drinkwater didn't decide he wanted to leave two days before the window closed. Once he said he wanted to leave in the summer, get him out and then get Silva in.

If I've got a deadline at work I don't wait until the last week to start my project.

Drinkwater hadn't in a transfer request about 4 days before the end of the window.

I will bow down to your inside knowledge.

I wouldn't have a clue personally.

Nobody knows but I’m going off what John Percie said ages ago that he submitted it at least a week before.

Hi I’m Craig

Mercury now saying there's been no appeal, just ongoing negotiations with FIFA over the last 4 weeks.

But John Percy said there was an appeal.

Battle of the reliable journo ITKs..?

How can you negotiate with FIFA exactly, they aren't going to change their mind without an appeal.

Presumably you negotiate the terms of the appeal with a view to it being successful. Makes more sense than just sticking in an appeal and then coming back saying you haven't followed procedure with the appeal or they don't agree with your argument.

If  FIFA aren't interested then there would be no negotiations - maybe that's why it's taken so long to get this far ????

I understand us talking with our lawyers about it and getting our case air tight. I understand talking to FIFA about rules and processes etc, to make sure we tick all the right boxes. Negotiate just seems completely the wrong word, as it suggests coming to a deal... which they won't do.

That would require two of them. You've listed John Percy and the Mercury.

Chelsea didn't bid £35m right until the end of the window.

If we done it your way we may have had the player but £20m out of pocket.

I think FIFA will have to budge on this. They can't have an international player just sitting around for half a season due to 14 seconds!

I wonder whether the deal in their eyes is incomplete and so the standard practice, is for Silva to return to Sporting, but because Leicester are so desperate for the deal, as our Sporting, maybe we are both not willing to accept that and hence the massive delay in announcing anything and trying to persuade FIFA otherwise.

Such a mess! Feel for the player most of all. FIFA should just give us a hefty fine to discourage other clubs from similar slip-ups, and then let him join us finally!

You are probably correct on this in that if the deal isn't completed re the registration then it should be deemed as incomplete and declared null and void. Problem here is that SCP want their money and we want the player.

FIFA are caught up in something they don't want to be and their rules are their rules. Unless we can show that the issue is with our FA, the Portuguese FA or FIFA I cannot see why they would make an exception - the players welfare is fundamentally down to his employer which is either SCP or lcfc.

Not hard considering nothing's being said.

Just going off what Matt Law said and he was the one with the first info about the transfer.

I feel extremely sad for Adrien to be honest, this season is one where they try and cement their place in the international squad ahead of next years World Cup. Can imagine him not being included due to lack of game time if this mess isn't sorted out before Christmas. Everyone involved in this wants Silva to be a City player... Apart from FIFA it seems lol.
