Kitchandro Posted 28 September 2017 Posted 28 September 2017 They already get more prize money for a higher finish so I don't know what their problem is. Yes more people want to watch the bigger clubs but they're forgetting that they need to actually play other teams in order to be on TV, teams like us, for example. Anyone who thinks this move would be acceptable or justified is a disgrace in my view. Of course it is all about greed, it's probably the greediest thing I've heard in a long time and there is no other argument for why it's being proposed.
davieG Posted 28 September 2017 Posted 28 September 2017 They wouldn't even come across as big if they didn't have the other clubs to thrash ever week you know like they do
Phube Posted 28 September 2017 Posted 28 September 2017 I thought any change to anything in the Prdmier League must be approved by at least 14 of the clubs?
urban.spaceman Posted 28 September 2017 Posted 28 September 2017 Worth noting that the season we won the league we weren't even the 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th highest earners.
st albans fox Posted 28 September 2017 Posted 28 September 2017 I think as long as any club who have won the PL in the last ten years is included in the extra dosh it's a very reasonable idea ................... otherwise its terrible .............
Voll Blau Posted 28 September 2017 Posted 28 September 2017 If anything the cash should be going the other way and being shared further down the leagues. Shameful if our club are actually backing it. Let the 'big six' fvck off and break away and let the rest of English football have its dignity back.

foxy boxing Posted 28 September 2017 Posted 28 September 2017 Will the greed of the big clubs of the premier League never end, their owners of these clubs are already disgusting wealthy and the fans of these clubs are being asked to fork out more every year! they get enough from sponsorship and endorsements but the pot of gold is never full for these people!. football is about competition and shouldn't be a closed shop for the very few mega wealthy clubs. it's about so much more than that! Clubs that don't have as big a fan base or commercial pull need to be able to compete on a level playing field. who wants to see the same clubs battling it out each year in year out, i mean that was so good about Leicesters dream season!

Stadt Posted 28 September 2017 Posted 28 September 2017 The worst part of this is that we're in support of it.
yorkie1999 Posted 28 September 2017 Posted 28 September 2017 Its time to have a break away, the other 14 teams should start a new premier league.

This, Pretty sure people would all eventually turn of if it was Man CIty v Man Utd every 3 weeks. However it is yet another step on the way to a Closed Shop European League, which basically what our power hungry, money based big clubs want, They want the chance to, get a competitive Man Utd Real, Liverpool Barca tie on at prime time viewing in, China, South America, the States etc. Never believed the PL was the greatest league, yes at one point the money helped attract players at the top of their game or helped them to develop into world stars, but Barca and Madrid got wise and caught back up and overtook, but it is the most competitive for a reason, we have some quality striking talent on display this season and that includes the likes of Vardy who plays for us, but with the way money is already heading, if Chelsea or Arsenal could just afford to lob 80 million on the table knowing it stops him scoring against them, they probably would. Our title made us all believe again and shook up the PL, but if this is how the fairy tale ends then, I'm not sure it was great in the long term.
ajthefox Posted 28 September 2017 Posted 28 September 2017 What a joke, our title win really pissed them all off didnt it? Embarrassing that we support this too, it would see an end to what little competition there is left.

Fox92 Posted 28 September 2017 Posted 28 September 2017 Just all about more money as if clubs in the Premier League - all clubs - don't get enough already. McGregor must be turning in his grave.
Dan Posted 28 September 2017 Posted 28 September 2017 Yeah great idea, let's gear it even further towards these lot as I suppose it isn't easy enough already. Why don't we just reserve Champions League quarter final places for them while we're at it? I honestly think I'd take this super league they keep going on about. Get these soulless clubs out of it in their own bubble.
Out Foxed Posted 28 September 2017 Posted 28 September 2017 let them **** off and start their own round robin. all the foreign fans can enjoy man u v chelsea every month and we can concentrate on not having a top heavy football league.
davieG Posted 28 September 2017 Posted 28 September 2017 New Season structure for the top 6 clubs. We don't want to make it too difficult for them. Elite English Premier League (EEPL) Members Arsenal Chelsea Manchester City Manchester United Liverpool Tottenham ( well we need someone to make up the 6) EEPL League Structure and game format Teams will play each other 4 times 20 games Home, Away, Asia, USA. FA Cup All 6 teams will enter their U23 teams at the Quarter Final Stage along with the 2 remaining PL/EFL teams EFL Cup The 2 teams at the bottom of the EEPL league as of the 1st January will enter their U23 teams at the Semi Final Stage along with the 2 remaining PL/EFL teams UEFA Champions League Entry restricted to member of the EEPL - Top 4 teams UEFA Europa League Entry restricted to member of the EEPL - Teams finishing 5th and 6th teams In addition the Elite's U23 teams will be guaranteed entry into the PL.
Super_horns Posted 28 September 2017 Posted 28 September 2017 Maybe one day there really will be a European super league so the big boys can play together without having to worry about us lot. I mean goodness know how they felt when your nasty lot won the title ahead of the mighty Liverpool and Spurs...(who haven't anything in 10 years I believe..)

They naturally do bring in more viewers, however obviously if there was such a huge restructure as to what is being proposed, the Premier League will lose its most important aspect and what I believe is its biggest strength in comparison to the other big European leagues. I am a little bit worried too that it mentions we are one of the clubs ready to agree to this proposal. I like the ambition, but as we know as Leicester fans it hardly works out that way. We’ll just be giving the ‘bigger’ clubs an easy chance to become even bigger. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2017/sep/27/premier-league-clubs-block-big-six-tv-cash http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-4927090/Premier-League-clubs-embroiled-1bn-TV-cash-row.html This is the reason why I have a lot of sympathy for the lower-league clubs, those that are managing on a shoestring and/or are owned by its 'fans community'. Sadly, only these particular lower league clubs value its fans, running and supporting the club - and this story just shows how ignorant and short-sighted the big machines in football are. Hardly any justice to traditional English football at all.
Staffs Fox Posted 28 September 2017 Posted 28 September 2017 Might seem unrelated but I drove past Kettering's old ground Rockingham Road this morning and it is soon to be demolished. You can still see the old main stand and it just brought back memories of a proper old stadium with history and what it was like to like football growing up, My first thought after that is when you contrast that with what the Premier League has become and Sky with its gimmicks for armchair supports and 30% of a ground being filled with corporate and competition winners and it's actually a million miles away from what the game was for the first 100 years of its inception, Sky and the Premier League was a great invention when it was done but now its reached a point where it is ridiculous, WWE version of the game we love. They'd rather a player gets sent off for scandal than score a great goal. They'd rather debate a players antics in a nightclub instead of analysing a teams tactics. The game is a side note to the money it makes If this is true, it is only going one way eventually and that is a European Super League
KingsX Posted 28 September 2017 Posted 28 September 2017 6 hours ago, StriderHiryu said: This is a bad development for the English game. Such deals are in place in Germany, Italy and Spain and that's why those leagues have teams that are in unassailable positions financially. The beauty of the Premier League at the moment is that it's a really even playing field. Yes the top clubs spend more, but they are not getting an extra cash injection from the league to do so - it's all based on where teams finish. If this sort of deal takes place then the Leicester City story won't ever be repeated and that is bad for the game. Dead on, Strider. Just look at Ligue 1. It is engineered so most of the TV Revenue goes to PSG, and as a result is an unbalanced and generally poor league, of little interest compared to those in England, Spain and Germany. If the product is not interesting = and a degree of competitive balance is required for that = the pie will shrink. Net result is that PSG is a little richer and the other clubs are much, much poorer. Financially, the likes of OM are now tiddlers compared to their past standing, and a great Monaco side assembled via merit is quickly torn to shreds. Analogue in the US is the Big 12, one of the 5 major college football conferences. The University of Texas was the biggest team, decided it didn't want to share TV revenue, and pulled out to create its own network and monopolize the revenues "it" generated. Two other strong teams pulled out to move to a major, revenue-sharing conference, the Big 12 quickly became a poor cousin, and now even Texas cannot draw many elite recruits. The whole structure was weakened because of greed at the top. This move bears the seeds of disaster.
yorkie1999 Posted 28 September 2017 Posted 28 September 2017 You can't really call yourself a top 6 premier league club if you've never actually won the thing though.
