He flatters to deceive for me. A couple of one touch passes and the odd flick doesn't for me disguise his persistent giving the ball away, failure to track players and generally being unfit and lightweight. He struggled at times badly against lower league opposition let alone Premiership. For those wondering why Puell hasn't been picking him, well they got the answer today, he stunk the place out. Now we can see quite clearly why he wasn't started against a large physical Stoke midfield last week, he'd have been eaten alive!

He came from a place where he was a decent size fish in a little pond just like Slimani and a different level and quality  of competition week in week out,  neither ofvthem worth anywhere near the fees we paid. At their ages one has to ask why if supposedly so good hasn't anyone else bought them?

Can't defend him after today, I don't care if he is more forward thinking and tries to create, he gave away so many simple passes, kept getting caught in possession and he lacked composure.

He was our worst midfielder today, got rightfully subbed because he was horrendous in the 15 minutes he played of the second half.

He won the frigging European Championships as a starter for Portugal.

Correction, he played in a team that won it, wasn't he a sparsely used substitute at that? Not sure on the last point in fairness but I think they have a few better Silva 's that play alongside the world class Ronaldo.

Ok, you're right, he played one of the games. Was a regular starter in the confederations cup though last year. He definitely has the pedigree, he reminds me of Adam Lallana who I think would get in our team

Yes, he struggled today as the game went on and the confidence then appeared to drain.

However, not giving Silva a chance to adapt after the season he’s had would be about as stupid as not giving Vardy a chance when he first signed for us and was nothing to write home about for a season.

Give Silva some game time, a full pre-season and maybe some colleagues who can pass to him in a way that isn’t quite as frantic, and I think he’ll shine.

THANK GOD somebody has common sense on here. He's going to be great for us with some game practice

At least Silva tries to make some decent plays and get the ball forward instead of constant back-passing and going anonymous for most of the game.

There should be two criticisms, James was ananymous, silva was shit. James might have been shit if he'd have tried to get involved.

Thank feck for N'didi because so far the others are lacking massively.

I've seen lalana have good games..., he needs time, but he's lacking at the moment.

That's because all James does is go back and sideways.

Iborra and Silva will lose the ball more because they actually  try and create.

Completely agree.

Iborra and Silva will give the ball away more because they try more forwards passes. James is becoming the new King because all he seems interested in is going backwards and sideways.

Don't get me wrong Silva had a bang average game today and was not strong enough on the ball.

Going forwards though I would much rather see Silva, Iborra and Ndidi playing together than what we witnessed today.

His first 10 minutes when he came on as sub were great.  He looked sharp, his passing was crisp and he broke up a couple of attacks and played the ball out beautifully.

Since then, he’s been fvcking crap every time he’s played.

How can he build his confidence if he doesn't play!?...

Seeing Fatty James being picked ahead of him week in week out isn't helping either!

Puel's head needs looking at!

Our best midfield partnership this season by far has been Iborra and Ndidi.  God knows why Silva and James are picked first.

Said it before he started playing. He came from a league that made Slimani look like a world beater. The only reason people thought Silva was any good was because he’s got a cool name and a handsome appearance. He has done absolutely nothing on the pitch to justify his reputation up to this point.

He gave away the ball countless times, but still it's James who gets all the criticism.

Please tell me you are joking the bloke does nothing apart from fill a space and play it back at least silva was trying to go forward and create

I didn't realise until today when he had that chance going forward just quite how slow he is... wow! (James that is)

Was hoping from more from Silva today, but there were more than a few glimpses of what he can do once he finds his footing.

After the top 6, the PL is shit. Glenn Murray is in double figures for this season already.
