We need to get stronger when we substitute, not weaker, and we clearly got much weaker when he came on. Slimani needs a shot if that is all Iheanacho can bring. He did well though?? Someone just mentioned he should have had an assist.
Guest Posted 4 November 2017 Posted 4 November 2017 I can see Puel going all out attack - Fuchs out for Chilwell, Simpson out for Almartey. Then play Vardy, Iheanacho, Mahrez and Gray up front. Win games 5 - 2. If we do it'll probably be wise to bring Dragovic in for Morgan too.
weller54 Posted 4 November 2017 Posted 4 November 2017 Should have won today.. But the performance was good.. We look better under Puel already.
brucey Posted 4 November 2017 Posted 4 November 2017 Decent game, fair result. Though that was our first dropped points in absolutely ages (a year?) after scoring first. Slim > Nacho. Especially with Albrighton on. Stick Iborra in the fridge for the next 2 weeks. Insisting on playing the ball on the floor when sometimes a lump forward would be more effective makes me uneasy. Still not 100% convinced about the new manager, the next few games will tell us more. Remember Puel's Southampton were creating lots of chances but not scoring them.
Monsell1976 Posted 4 November 2017 Posted 4 November 2017 Starting 11 did ok, Fuchs and Maguire naive defending, but the weakness of the bench cost us for me. Once king came on for Iborra, we got over run, and the calmness and organisation was lost. Nacho I’ve tried to give him a go, but he doesn’t suit us, and he’s not good enough, and don’t know how he gets a game over slim. Albrighton, did he actually come on for gray. Strengthen the bench, keep mahrez, and we can start kicking on.
Blue Ed Posted 4 November 2017 Posted 4 November 2017 Thought we were good today apart from the couple of defensive mistakes. The first goal I think Maguire should have seen Fuchs go to the wing back and backed off rather than going to the ball and I dont know what happened on the second one. Three things. 1. Iborra is a beast he really controlled the game for us I thought 2. Side looks balanced now with Mahrez and Grey given more freedom 3. Why are people having a go at Nacho. Thought he did well today
Cadno'r Cymoedd Posted 4 November 2017 Posted 4 November 2017 Stupid fouls aside, don't understand all the bile over Iheanacho being straight. The guy has hardly had any playing time and no real starts. He needs play to improve and find his place in the squad. There were some nice touches by him. Get off his back.

Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 4 November 2017 Posted 4 November 2017 Should have buried them first half end of story. Butland kept them in it at the end of first half. Iborra should have had another chance on target and I don't know what Mahrez was doing when he should have passed to Vardy. Our set piece defending is absolutely abominable. It's a joke. It's been shite for several seasons now. Crouch didn't even have to work hard for his goal. All he did was jog to the near post for a free header. Maguire started marking him and just was no where near him. It's disgraceful defending really. Everyone knows Crouch is the target man yet we let him just breeze through unmarked. Can't blame tactics for that or management. It's just poor decisions from the players. And that happened again at the end when Kasper saved us with a good save. Let's not beat around the bush...that was two points thrown away. So disappointing it really is. Thought Fuchs was very poor again. Seems to play gambling with defending all the time now and he's getting caught out a lot. Haven't seen it again but where was he for the first goal?? I'd defo play a fully fit Chillwell over him asap. Iborra was class until the injury. Kasper takes the motm though with great saves
trabuch Posted 4 November 2017 Posted 4 November 2017 Great interview with Kasper on Sky. I agree with everything he said. He is a solid individual.

Were you all watching the same game? We controlled possession and created the better chances. We did make some defensive errors though and Stoke could have nicked it at the end. Overall we were the better team.

He wasn't a total zero, but he was poor the vast majority of his appearance from what I saw. Yes, he had a good pass or two. I can remember another one that Vardy couldn't quite catch up to that was nice as well. But he was invisible for a lot of his time on the field, and didn't seem to have the rhythm of the attack. He repeatedly was out of position bc he was too slow to get where he needed to be, and lacks the instinct to anticipate from what I see. But if you thought he played well, hey, perhaps you saw things I missed. :-)
deejdeej Posted 4 November 2017 Posted 4 November 2017 Some miserable gits on here have the Mark Lawrenson syndrome expecting us to win every game. Today was a good performance and we didn't lose, not ruined my weekend whatsoever.
RowlattsFox Posted 4 November 2017 Posted 4 November 2017 Frustrating not to win but it was encouraging at times. Two avoidable goals conceded. People kept saying Iheanacho is a number 10 when we were linked but I'm yet to see anything to suggest that's his position, I would prefer Slimani personally. He did a couple of decent things and I think he tried to do the defensive side of the game but arrives late and gives fouls away. Hopefully Iborra injury not serious.
foxinsocks Posted 4 November 2017 Posted 4 November 2017 It was a good away point. But we need a deeper squad....

If Iborra is ****ed and we're back to King starting then it's downhill from here. Iheanacho - what exactly is the point in bringing him on at the moment? doesn't add anything. Overall not a bad game but we became worse as the game went on as the quality of our substitutions isn't good enough. I thought we attacked well but look poor in defense - without Kasper we'd have lost that. It should have been Slimani coming on for Okazaki - Iheanacho doesn't give us anything up front to make the ball stick to - it just keeps coming back. Oh well, a point away is a point away and it certainly wasn't a boring game. Still, 2 points dropped IMO. All of this King and Iheanacho changed the game for Stoke
foxinsocks Posted 4 November 2017 Posted 4 November 2017 I like albrighton.... but i dont know what he did for us today
justfoxes Posted 4 November 2017 Posted 4 November 2017 Cant believe we have a player as good as Dragovic on the bench and can’t get on the pitch, Maguire and Fuchs left a lot to be desired in their performances today both on crouch for his equaliser and they both couldn’t stop him from scoring!! Puel needs to decide what formation he feels his side are comfortable with and decide whether he needs to bring in top Quality defenders in January Maguire looks great at times but he’s a young lad who needs nurturing into his role, really think the world of Morgan but he’s really showing his lack of speed and positioning at times do we need to replace him?? We all have ideas how we would play the squad and have our own views on performances from players but all in all we really hope Puel can sort our team out get us playing decent football again and defending solid at the back !!
weller54 Posted 4 November 2017 Posted 4 November 2017 Pardew is talking alot of sense in the after match analysis...
FoxesDeb Posted 4 November 2017 Posted 4 November 2017 I can't really remember the last time I enjoyed watching us so much, it's certainly been a while. Lots to look forward to for the future I think ☺️
Babylon Posted 4 November 2017 Posted 4 November 2017 Saying two defensive lapses cost isn't right for me, we were utterly useless pretty much the entire game defensively and should have conceded before we scored.
C-Gifted Posted 4 November 2017 Posted 4 November 2017 Vardy gets full 90 mins to impress game in ,game out. Today absolutely did nothing ; yet it's ok to blame a substitute striker that plays for only 35 odd mins. And even managed to find Vardy with a through pass. An opportunity vardy squandered. Though, the commentators chose to elaborate on his exquisite turn

Once we lost Iborra, we started lumping it forward, and consequently spent he majority of the time defending (and conceding). We seemed to have no trouble getting the ball up top to start the counter, feels like the build-from-the-back happens when we don't have the opportunity on the counter, and it is creating real goal scoring opportunities for us that were previously wholly absent from our game. I kinda love it. We need to improve defensively, and if Maguire and Fuchs cannot get it together, I can see Puel moving towards Dragovic.
