How do you start your day...?

Recommended Posts

No mornings are the same for me because the time that I need to get up, can be different every morning.

I like to get up

Kettle on

Make the pack lunches

Make a cup of tea

Drink tea

Brush teeth

Walk the dog (could be go for a run with the dog, if I have time).

If I’ve been for a run I would have a shower, if not,  the one I had before bed would be fine.

Go to work.

I don't really like breakfast, although I may have a slice of toast now and again, I just get a drink down me, get dressed and then drive to work.

Today was nearly different because I was turning into work and the guy didn't look just crossed the road.

  • Alarm at 7am
  • Try to wake up for 20 minutes
  • Out of bed 7:20
  • Shower etc
  • Leave for work 7:45

Would love to achieve more in the morning, but it just isn't happening. Especially with cold mornings.

Go to bed at night full of plans to get up early and get stuff done

Snooze alarm until the last possible second

Have a cup of tea and a cigarette

Get ready for work and leave at 7:20

Drive to work cross that I didn't get up earlier and promise myself that tomorrow will be different

When I’m not doing the school run I get up when I want - except on Wednesday’s when I get rudely awakened by the dustman.

I put my trousers on, have a cup of tea, and think about leaving the house.

I feed the pigeons, I sometimes feed the sparrows too - it gives me a sense of enormous wellbeing.

And then I’m happy for the rest of the day, safe in the knowledge there will always be a bit of my heart devoted to it...

depends on shifts. can start work anytime between about 4am and 3pm.

if its an early;

set alarm for 20 mins before I have to leave. creep to the shower without waking my housemate up at a stupid time. shower, dress and go to work. have breakfast when I’m there.

if its later;

get woken up by my housemate who can’t do quiet. go back to sleep. still need an alarm to wake up even if it’s at like half 11. shower and make a bacon barm or something, relax and have a bifter.

recently been trying to wake up much earlier when I’m on afternoon shifts though to make more of the morning. have a decent relax and breakfast, maybe even go for a stroll before work. especially now it’s dark whenever you finish work. but obviously there’s days where there’s a hangover involved or you just feel quite alright staying in bed all mornin.

Fairly sure I've spotted you in the past and couldn't help but wonder who's that gut lord marching, you should cut down on your porklife mate, get some exercise.

I recently changed my start to the day as I was getting headaches and generally feel shite.

So now it's 6.30 Alarm - quick scroll of phone for news etc.

6.40 Out of Bed - do lunch if not already done, cup of tea, breakfast whilst watching television.

7.10 Get ready

7.40 Out the door ready to catch the train at 7.52

Posted

5.45/6 - Get up, drink some water, and get to the gym by 6.30.

7.45 - Get home, have a shower, eat breakfast and drink coffee while watching the news.

8.55 - Leave for work.

I'm lucky that I live only a 5 minute walk from work, the hour I get to sit on the sofa watching the news with a coffee is probably the favourite part of my day! Dreading the day I inevitably have to commute to work.

Today I...

Woke up, fell out of bed
Dragged a comb across my head
Found my way downstairs and drank a cup
And looking up I noticed I was late

Found my coat and grabbed my hat
Made the bus in seconds flat
Found my way upstairs and had a smoke
And somebody spoke and I went into a dream...

Probably time I fessed up actually.

I don't write the jokes - they're 100% stolen from a secret sauce.

get up, go toilet and brush teeth and then switch on TV and look at Teletext for the news and sport latest before getting a wash and dressed. I don't really bother with breakfast just get a sandwich when I am out.

If I'm on earlies it's:  Alarm for half 5; snooze for 10 minutes; drag myself downstairs for a piss and to wash my face and brush my teeth (and throw some water over my hair if I didn't shower the previous night); back upstairs to throw on my clothes; back downstairs to the car by 6 at the latest and off to the residential street with no parking restrictions where I leave it for the day; make the 10 minute walk to work and pour myself a coffee; eat some food when I get my break sometime between 9 and 10 and check FT for the first time of the day.

If I'm on lates:  Lie in until I naturally rise some time between 10 and 12; FT and BBC news; watch something on Netflix; downstairs for a shower and to make bacon, eggs & mushrooms on toast; back to the internet until I need to leave for work.  Day offs are essentially the same except I might treat myself to a morning beer or a wake and bake if money or other plans for the day allow it.

Who is this "gym" everyone keeps talking about?

6.20 - Alarm goes off

6.50 - Get out of bed and straight in the shower, get dressed, brush teath etc.

7.20 - Dash out of house in a rush

7.27 - Get on train

8.25 - Arrive at office, have breakfast, hit the caffeine trail

Same every weekday, apart from when the rail goes Pete Tong.
