Likewise, I know the lady who does his hair in Sheffield. She mentioned he was struggling for a while after Derby.

What actually happened at derby mate?

He had a bust-up with their owner Morris, apparently. The latter allegedly used drones to monitor what Pearson was instructing/doing in training..

Seems he's happy with a new project he wants to build, interesting how he says he spoke with steve walsh and said that whatever happens to all of us, we've all done pretty well out of it. That to me reads as a bit of an arm round the shoulder comment. Wonder if walsh is leaving everton.

Waiting for the FT classic "but e's left uz nah so why we fvcking talkin' about him get over it you plastic twats" as if having even a passing interest in someone who used to be at our club but is no longer makes you somehow less of a fan.

I still love him.

He seems to be fiercely patriotic Englishman but also feels strongly European reading that, an unusual position I'd say.

Working and living in Belgium, i'm guessing he couldn't have said any different.

It would be a tad hypocritical.

“It's alright for the Scots and the Welsh to say that they're Scots and Welsh, but I'm an Englishman and I see myself as being European. I was bloody annoyed if I'm honest

Nige, if you're reading this (after getting your place wired up, obviously), I'm happy to tell you that you will still be as much European after the UK leave the EU as you were before.

Hope that helps

Sam Allardyce is also a remainer. Looks deceive, both Allardyce and Pearson have been characterised as being Brexit Little Englander types but they are not.

I'm pretty sure Allardyce voted Brexit. Where did you read he didn't?

I'll always love you Nige, even despite this

Allardyce is a strong Labour voter so I was just assuming he would be a remainer based on that.

Actually didn’t vote myself. But if I did I would have voted leave :P

i mean norway and Switzerland don’t do too bad, do they :D

If we get a deal to keep us part of the single market like those countries I'd be happy but we won't, so unfortunately there's no comparison.  These countries also have to abide to majority of EU law and freedom of movement.  So if we accept a deal like they have we'd be pretty much the way we were before we voted to leave.

Doubt the leavers would be happy with that.

Good read. Calm and considerate Nige seems to be so far away from his ostrich days. I thought he might get Leuven to the top tier, hopefully next year. Also one can't help but praise Vichai for burying the hatchet. Not only great businessman but also very generous.

Lots of countries have free trade deals with occupied Europe like Canada but without all the bowing and scraping and without having to build deserted motorways for the Spanish with their hard earned.

Important not to blink now.  Have the courage to leave on our own terms without a deal rather than accepting their punishment beatings.   They will feel the pain most without our £8bn per year and WTO rules on the £450bn they export to us.  Just a matter of time before a deal is reached after that.

Tarrifs on our £225bn exports to the EU would be covered by the £8bn saving that we pay into their coffers anyway.  The government could subsidise exports.

From one corrupt, bloated, anti democratic, anti British, European institution to another.... Can we have a referendum about leaving FIFA next please?

Not an unusual position at all. It isn't one or the other, no matter what rags like the mail try and insinuate

Interesting how he talks about some of the bad eggs of the Sven era sapping away even his and the backroom staff's enthusiasm.

I think it's what we all already knew and can probably take a good guess at who they were.

A great man. Completely revolutionised our club from top to bottom twice.

I'm amazed that so many have failed to get to grips with the concept that UK will be part of Europe whatever happens. The UK was part of Europe before joining the EEC and will be after it leaves the EU.

We are leaving the EU not Europe.

Labour MP's mostly voted in favour of triggering Article 50 here's the list

Old Labour (before Blair/Brown) wanted us out of the EU (have a read of the manifesto from 1983 when they pledged to remove the UK from the EEC within 5 years).

Labour's claim is that they would make a better job of removing the UK from the EU (well they would say that, wouldn't they).

More than 83% of the electorate voted for Brexit supporting parties.
