I tend not to go overboard anyway and didnt when Ranieri or Puel were appointed. Think you have to have an open mind about these things but yeah, not much value in calling out anyone who doubted him. Wont be the first and wont be the last though, I remember someone on here on a borderline witchhunt against the doubters when Pearson got it right.

We're all fans and we've all called it wrong sometimes.

When he was appointed many on here were none to pleased , i think its time to hold your hands up, some of the football has been superb.

Yea. Not going to lie. I wasn't that pleased. I was happy it wasn't Dyche who some people were shouting for but I was a little underwhelmed and disappointed. I was wrong. He's been superb. I think he has more confidence in our ability to defend now too. There's no dropping off because we've scored now.

I thought he did a decent job at southampton. Look at them this season for hindsight. He was dubbed boring but i think it was working with what the club had. The same as here, as a squad we are suited more to attacking.

I wasnt delighted he was appointed, i was a little surprised if anything. But as with any manager i reserve judgement til theyve settled in.

I was quite pleased, thought he did well at southampton. Wanted tuchel but that was unlikely. Just glad we didn't end up with pardew big sam or moyes. I do prefer foreign managers as they are more tactically aware than the brits imo.

It's still early days. We had the same scenario with Ranieri, who as you may recall managed us to win the premiership league and got the sack the next season.  Remember one Swallow does not make a Summer.

I was hoping for tuchel tbh and hoping we wouldn't get fat Sam, pards or woy, so much so I didn't notice puel and the next thing I know, all the itk's were confirming it a done deal.

Can't knock what he's done for us though.

I've been happy with Appleton too, im glad Puel kept him on, anymore player revolts can be put down with one flick of a pec.

Any skepticism I may have expressed (can’t really remember) was based on comments from Southampton supporters and others here, so obviously not my fault.

Hahaha. Reminds me of guys passing the blame for getting into fights - 'well, he looked at me, what was I supposed to do?'

It's been overated for years.

Birstall is much better.

The only concern I had at the time was that Puel's favoured formation at Southampton was a 4-4-2 diamond, which wouldn't suit our players. However it was naive of me to think that he'd just walk into the job and not acknowledge the strengths of the squad. I acknowledged that the club needed a fresh pair of eyes and was more than willing to give him a chance though. I'm so happy with how it's going under him at the moment.

i was pretty upset when i realised puel wasn’t just a typo for pearson yeah.

then he did some interview and they asked him why southampton didn’t score any goals last year and he said we created loads of chances but their strikers are rubbish an i thought yeah i can back this guy, strong comments. then he wore some cool jacket in his first game and i was like championeees etc

To be fair, winning the Premier League is a f*****g big swallow.....or a whole flock of them.

So making a post to suggest Ranieri failed is somewhat strange. Unless you thought we would go up another level.
