Muzzy_no7 Posted 1 October 2018 Share Posted 1 October 2018 One may suspect that some of these locals objecting are perhaps big haters of Football or maybe even fans of rival clubs? Rather pathetic that a busy golf club was fine yet a Training ground isn't.

You can absolutely guarantee that some of them are thinking along the lines of "Urrrrrgh football is a thugs game, we don't want that scum around here". But would probably be happy with Rugby players who belt the shit out of each other on a regular basis. Need to be careful what they wish for. Near me a load of people objected to a Doctors Surgery being built on some nearby land... they ended up with a Gypsy church instead. I bet they wish they'd accepted Fred and his gammy hip hobbling about, now they've got 300 white vans turning up every other week. 1

I don't think the problem is more traffic total but I can see why it would lead to spikes in traffic, which is when people might make rash decisions going onto the A46 towards Leicester. Neither a golf course or the other types of events held there would lead to the same 'spikes' in number of cars taking that route eg. end of training, end of a training match etc. It isn't unsurmountable at all but I definitely think the traffic argument is a valid one. 1

People turn up to a wedding in large groups all the time. Any golf tournaments or basically any event would also be the same. Staff at the golf club would presumably all start the early shift at a similar time. The training ground being there isn't going to cause any huge spikes in traffic at all. You'll have club staff/players turning up at varying times throughout the morning and away clubs will be turning up together by coach most of the time anyway. It's an over-stated 'problem' and is clutching at straws, to be frank.

Turn up to in large groups but not all leave at the same time like at the end of a football event, and it's that direction which would cause the problem. But your second paragraph is probably a fair point, just think it's all conjecture really. Having said that, the club has offered to improve the junction so it's easy to get past. KingsX Posted 2 October 2018 Share Posted 2 October 2018 Another leak from the SLAGPIT. Mr Chairman, I am pleased to forward the latest updates from our Super Loud Academy Ground - Project Integration Team. Your endowment of the Turf Horticulture program at our Higher Education Partner is already bearing fruit. DMU have completed the soil analysis, and identified areas of the SLAG suited for cultivation of top quality cannabis. As soon as we have lined the perimeter with punji pit booby traps, we can move our potent greenhouse strains “Filbert’s Fave” and “Gitcha Fox Off” to the outdoor beds. By next year, we’ll be stapling samples to the clappers. Thank you for the Monks’ help on the “Frank from Charnwood” problem. It took them weeks to make his mandala, grain by grain of colored sand. But since they swept it away, his objection letters are now limericks in broken Sanskrit. Sometimes it’s the quiet guys who get results! Regarding the troublesome A46 intersection, we have ordered a custom vehicle (photo A1 attached) for your use for site visits. We felt the military surplus tank would not provide the comfort you require. Unfortunately, the STD test results for the golf hostesses were not what we hoed. (hoped ?? -- make up your mind, spell check!) But more on the Harem Rooms next time. Very respectfully, Susan

Popular Post thesilverfox Posted 3 October 2018 Popular Post Share Posted 3 October 2018 (edited) The plans committee report has now been uploaded. Can't honestly see too many reasons for an objection, the only people objecting are locals and the ramblers association. It would seem the club will remove 5000 trees, but be planting 38,000. Plus create a nature area where schools etc can visit.. they've ticked pretty much every box required of them, Fingers crossed for the 11th... Popular Post davieG Posted 3 October 2018 Popular Post Share Posted 3 October 2018 https://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/sport/football/leicester-city-learn-permission-new-2070824 Leicester City to learn if they will get permission for new £100m training ground Club wants to build Europe’s best football training ground on 185-acre site north of Leicester ByDan MartinPolitics Reporter 18:00, 3 OCT 2018 Leicester City will discover next week if they will be allowed to build a new £100 million training ground on a former golf and fishing complex. The club want to create Europe’s best football training ground on the 185-acre site off the A46, eight miles north of Leicester. First, however, City must get planning approval for their scheme from Charnwood Borough Council. The authority’s planning committee meets on Thursday, October 11, to debate the proposals. The council has had more than 170 objections to the proposal, which would see the training ground built on the old Park Hill Golf Course. The Seagrave course closed in January. Concerns include nearby residents’ fears about noise from cheering crowds at a planned 499-seat spectator pitch. Worries have also been lodged about light pollution from floodlights and the impact of extra traffic on nearby rural roads. There are also concerns over vehicle movement at the busy junction of Park Hill Lane and the A46. Despite these concerns, however, planning officers at the council have reviewed the club’s proposals and say they are acceptable. They have advised councillors on the planning committee to approve the scheme. What does the council say? A Charnwood Borough Council planning report says: “It is acknowledged that there is significant local opposition to the scheme, and this must be taken into account appropriately when reaching a decision on the application. “It should be noted that the applicant has developed the final proposal by considering those concerns and responding to them wherever possible. “However, opposition to the proposal in principle should be considered in light of the fact it complies with development plan policies and replaces an existing leisure facility with a new, albeit larger, leisure facility." Leicester City want to move away from Belvoir Drive, which has been the training ground since 1964 Why previous deal ended What is in the plan? The club wants to build: A covered show pitch with 499 seats, spectator toilets and an elevated camera platform. 12 full size football pitches Six part-size size grass pitches Two goalkeeper areas One attacking area Five warm-up and technical training areas A sports hall A training centre to be used by the first team and academy with hydrotherapy, medical , rehabilitation and dining facilities. It will also have education facilities, offices, 30 bedrooms for the players and management. Stores and its own power plant 421 parking spaces with eight coach parking bays with disabled and electric car parking spaces. The UK’s first sports turf academy to train groundsmen If it gets permission, the club will relocate from their current training ground in Belvoir Drive, Aylestone. 7

We have a 499 seater stadium for what some youth games? How loud do they think the crowd will get? Maybe we should put clappers and bring in the drum for all games played there
Wizerud Posted 4 October 2018 Share Posted 4 October 2018 What a statement by the club if this goes through. We might still not be able to compete with the top 6 for transfer targets but we wouldn't be that far behind and certainly the best of the rest.
