I'm with the Owners all the way and they've gone up even higher in my estimation.

Maybe now the other clubs will get the message that we won't be bullied or pushed around. Our top Players are not for sale period.

This may cost the owners in the long run but it shows we are a club that won't be a pushover. The right move for me

Never mind the long run, They've turned down virtually 65 mil profit and if you add 20 mil for a player that around 85 Million profit. That takes some Balls.

It will stop other Clubs trying to pick off our best players. They'll know now when we say no it means no.

Why did we negotiate with City, almost to the last minute, if we didn't want to

sell Mahrez?

In my opinion, 60m is a lot of money for a player, who, at 26, has only one

outstanding season to show for.

THE gloom-monger is back. Exactly at the right time.

Whazup? Still mourning for Claudio? Didn't heard of you the last three months or so. Coincidentally the period where we weren't doing that bad.

Didn’t think he would be sold .. Timing was all wrong.

We got burnt in the summer.

I believe if this bid was submitted on 1st jan he would be gone.

If mahrez was a poor player he wouldn’t create so much publicity.

Press, pundits alike know if he was at any top 6 club?

He would be classed as “world class “already.

Enjoy one of our greatest players for the the last few months.

We will make a heafty profit either way ... ?

Hopefully he’s leaves us in a good place!

well done indeed..

We didn’t. We rejected 4 consecutive bids. Saying he’s not for sale wasn’t their plan, he could leave for the right price. They didn’t make a significant enough offer, so they didn’t sell.

I think the owners did damage their chances to build a stronger team by not letting mahrez move on and they just lost the three crucial points

mshrez was offered a max of 32 m last summer znd every body knew that his value was 45/50 m and we thanked the owners for playing hard with roma and we thanked mahrez for being professional and coming to his best level last months and Matt Elliot and Robbie savage thought his value was around 60 m ( that is 10 m more )

the owners and the manager have not stood with there words and put mahrez in very complicated situation and unsettled him and the team

the people asking to put him in the reserve team you think it will affect mahrez financially I think not and he can find with his agent a way for a move in the summer at lower fee since many clubs knew his real value and very story that put him in disrespected situation

I believe that was a bad move from the owners with negative consequences

95M is madness. We'll never ever get that much money for him and he's going for far less this summer. It's alright now because Citeh came way too late but it won't happen again in the summer. We'll see for how much he'll leave.

One thing is sure, the bridges are definitely burned.

Difficult one, and time will tell.

From a business sense, are we going to get an improved offer in the summer? He will have 2 years left then, and will he play as well as the first part of the season in the next 15 matches or whatever is left (to increase his value)? He will do well to carry on in the same vein of form - and some, especially given his sulky mood after yesterday.

We could end up having a 50% RM for the rest of the season, if we do then his value starts to drop considerably. I get why it was rejected, on principal and I believe he is likely undervalued, will we get more than £65m for him in the future? I really don't think so. Could of dropped a bollock here, to say we haven't turned into a selling club like southampton is great for the perception and media side of the club, but just not sure in hindsight.

I’ll say well done when its warranted. If he goes back to sulk mode and eventually moves for less than we’ve been offered today then I’m aftaid they’ve dropped one. Time will tell.

I don't think so. Yesterday was an important statement from this cub as a whole. We are not a small club to be bullied anymore.

Yes, let’s relegate to the reserves and not let him play first team football at total loss of about 100 million pounds. That’s productive.

I’m sure promising young players looking to progress their career will look at us and think that’s the place I want to play my football.

You're not allowed to speak sense here. I warned you.

Just sell him for fu*ks sake. There will never be another like him but without him our squad still looks pretty tasty. Aren't we building 80 mils worth of training facility's? Finally playing academy players? Little old leicester just told the sheikh to do one whilst pledging to spend as much again.

I have man love for him, but it's time to move on.

Posted

We have to sell him in the summer but on our terms. I would've taken 80m+ from Man City this week but 60m+ in the summer will do. Yeah we take a £20m hit but the January window inflates prices.

Leaving things to the last minute wasn't going to help Mahrez. Let's get the planning done now to replace him in June.

There were no winners in this piece of business, not Mahrez and certainly not the club. Thinking that we have become a big club over night  by refusing to sell is a pipe dream.

"I do feel sorry for Riyad"

Shut up. He makes more a week then most of us make in 3 years, Im sure he is suffering so much without his increased paycheck and even higher profile.

He is a brat.

The good thing is Thai culture does to not take lightly to bullshit/brattish behavior. He WILL be put in his place, he WILL not play, he WILL go in the summer.

I wouldn't be surprised to see him sign a new contact this month with a release fee of about £75m, £150k a week for 3.5 years.

That way Mahrez knows the club can't change the goalposts again on his valuation and it motivates him to end the season well to interest the elite clubs. Us offering him £150k a week also strengthens our hand that we value him as a £75m+ player.

The owners have done the right thing. It sends out a statement that we are not a selling club unless the money is right and will not give in to players throwing a paddy.

Riyads behaviour the past two transfer windows has been nothing short of disrespectful to the club that has given him the opportunity to be where he is now. He gets paid handsomely & should honour his contract until the club tell him otherwise.

Pathetic from Riyad and I hope his teammates tell him the same.

Bit strange really citing unable to come to agreement on fees etc Pep is doing exactly what Ass Wenger did last year, we play Man City soon and so pep comes in for a bid and pulls out saying valuation too high !!

More like let’s unsettle one of Leicester’s star performers before we play them soon he’ll be sulky miserable and depressed and nowhere near the Riyad of old skipping through defences scoring beauties he’ll be awful for a few weeks to come or be Awol v Man City or will he refuse to play for us after advice from his enterage to force a move in the Summer ??

Man City were just looking for a temporary replacement for the injured Sane. As Pep said last night ' we would only pay 100 million for a 'special special player'. They think they can just throw there money wherever they like so it was good to see our owners stand firm.

City are going to kill the premiership, based upon owners who pretty much own a country and will end up buying all the best players in the world. If it had'nt been for the Commonwealth games in Manchester and a new stadium all ready to go City would still be at Maine Road with a mediocre team and mediocre owners. They have'nt earned success, they've just bought it.So its nice to see someone standing there ground, well done the owners.

More Algerian claptrap based on sentiment, turning a blind eye on reality.

According to latest reports, Manchester City never formally placed a bit. They inquired about his asking price, but weren't ever really interested in the player. Not in this January transfer window. All they did was trying to unsettle the player (further). In that, they have succeeded to some extent.

I don't know why Algerians are quick to blame our owners or management here, we have nothing to lose. We're loaded. We don't have to sell Mahrez. He is under contract for another 1 1/2 years. Whether we sell him for £50m, £60m or £70m in the summer makes no difference. By not letting him go, we've told the footballing world that we won't be walked over. Not that easily. That's great, because there were times not so long ago when it was a bit different.

If at all, blame Manchester City for their well-timed approach. And blame Riyad and his agent for the timing and the consequences it has (had) on the squad. Not for the first time, I might add.

But hey, it's not as if Algerians would ever think that far when it comes to Mahrez.

The blame has to lie with Man City. I appreciate that they couldn't have foreseen the injury to Sane, but reports are that Mahrez was a long term target and not a plan B for missing out on Sanchez.

If that's the case, then to make a move for him with 48 hours of the window remaining, without offering a premium to reflect that we can't get a replacement in that time is a pretty shitty move.

Did you just forget what happened between summer transfer window closing and now? Mahrez didn't sulk

It's not about sulking, its about his confidence dipping. It will take him a few gamed to back in it, and if the squad plays like they did yesterday without him, then we can truly say bye bye to the Europa League or FA Cup dreams
