Grow up and get behind Riyad, or: stop listening to the press and wait and see how he reacts on the pitch

What would the reaction be if he started the game on Saturday and played a blinder?

Would the current 'disgust' of him be swept under the carpet if this does happen?

No!!

I'm bored of all this now. If he plays for us I will welcome him and cheer. If he doesn't I will welcome Gray and Diabate's extra pitch time. When he leaves I will wave goodbye. I'm neither angry or hopeful in regards to him. Merely slightly bored. If I met him in the pub I think I'd just commiserate him for the frankly horrific situation for all parties with the exception of Man City.

The only thing that angers me now is Man City and the top four's ability to wreck havoc with mid and lower league teams. It was the same with Liverpool, Southampton and Van Dijk. But then when the Premier League and the Champions League throw money at the regular Champions Leaguers, something we have benefited from briefly and aspire to again, then it's all part of the system.

Am I right in saying only 2 bids for Mahrez have gone public? Man City and Roma? Do we even think there were more?

I think the hype/ his agent's words have gone to his head. I think he expects Barca to come in with a swap deal for Messi and Suarez.

Spurs tried last January but it was believed to be a pathetic bid.

We are building a reputation of being pigs to deal with on transfers so it's not surprising there's been some broken agreements between Mahrez and the club, however we are damned if we do damned if we don't with Mahrez in this bonkers transfer market. His superb return to form this year has beefed up his value and whether it was solely for him to get a move or because we've given him the freedom to do so under Puel, I think it's unfair we had to sell below market value. I think the fall out from this is going to result in him leaving for a similar price to what Man City offered but the key is, we had very little time to bring in a replacement and Patrick Roberts is injured anyway. Therefore we need to find a middle ground with Mahrez quickly, I'd be allowing a release clause in his contract of £75 million if we don't qualify for Europe or £65 million if we do, an incentive for him to do the business and secure us another gig around the shit holes of eastern Europe. We need him back, I just want to cherish these final 10-15 games of him in a Leicester shirt and then let him go.

Agreed.  The only thing we cant be sure of is that anyone will come in in the summer and bid 75 plus

If things had carried on this season as they were I fully expected that to happen

After all this, Mahrez has actually worsened his chances in my view.  He needs to get training and playing again asap

Well that's what he needs to understand, he can effect whether someone pays his market value or not. Act a penis and they won't do, play like the magician he is and they'll form a queue. He's in danger of tarnishing everything, we thought the summer was bad enough when teams seemed dismissive of whether he was a one season wonder or not, now he's proven he's the real deal and yet he's acting like a coont.

£70m for me and a year extension and probably no extra money as seen as not to reward his behaviour. I don't think we should give him a release clause without getting something ourselves hence the year extension.

This way everyone saves face and Mahrez knows he has to play at his best whilst at Leicester to generate interest. The release fee is low enough to still attract clubs if Man City's £50m +£15m player bid is to be believed.

What he actually needs to get into his thick head is that we aren't suddenly going to drop the price tag just because he has had a sulk. All he is doing is lowering the price other clubs will want pay for him, therefore giving himself even less chance of going anywhere.

The lad needs to grow up.

Spot on. It's a shame it's tarnishing his legacy. Just hope he isn't remembered for this more than his heroics.

I think he would have 100% got a move for the right price in summer if he had just brushed himself off and worked even harder to get his value over that line. He has potentially done massive lasting damage now.

On this occasion I think the club's approach has been correct. The framing of the debate in the media has shifted significantly in the last week and the reporting now is making everyone (bar Algerians with internet access) think he looks a complete prat, which he does.

There's no happy ending now sadly but I'm glad the club have stood up for themselves and done it quietly and humbly. Puel is a perfect mouthpiece in that sense.

It's ruined our season now though, I can't see us finishing 7th now and top half might even be a stretch. All on the Cup now.

Me neither. This is the perfect way for Pep to sidestep the fact that he only bid for Mahrez because of injuries. Instead of being faced with questions in the summer about why he hasn't gone in for another bid he can blame it on this.

I don't but let's be honest who would want a mardy brat that throws his toys out his pram. be it Pep or other managers its very likely some won't touch him now.

“He is a magnificent player and he enjoys his football. He loves his team-mates, and that’s important. He loves to touch the football but he needs to come back right. I hope he can come back with a good attitude and prepared to work, but he will need time and time to be match-fit.” CP pre match press conference

Good to hear when he does return, Mahrez is going to have to earn his place back in the side.

any club thinking for buying mahrez would now wonder what will happen when things don't go his way... this is now a problem for him.

said before... I wish his agent had spend more time convincing man city of his value so that they saw this as a great opportunity to buy mahrez for 80m... rather then pressuring Vichai to sell him for buttons

No cvnts going to want a frickin lightweight cry baby like Mahrez. I mean what will Pep be thinking?  Has a good season with us, Barca come in for him and he fooks off for a 3 month haircut.
