Hang on, in one breath people are saying "Get rid of the title winning players, they've got too much player power" and in the next people are saying this.

Can't have it both ways.

I think this has been done because if a club comes in for Vardy he'll want out, he's being suffocated in this style, having to work even harder than he already did, playing everywhere except where he is supposed to, I can't actually understand how he's still scoring in this style, shows how good his conversion rate is I guess, fair play him, it's frustrating to watch so he must be even more frustrated about lack of attacking threat and chances though.

I am not having it both ways and not sure where you are referencing my comment too!

Personally think we are putting too much credence to the so called player power - I think if a team is underperforming then all avenues should be looked into - in the case of Claudio and CP I believe they played roles in their own downfall and in the case of CP specifically I do not believe he is the right fit.

In terms of JV we would be mad at any point in the next 2 or 3 seasons to be letting him go - he came to pro football late and actually is continually improving his touch and movement have improved beyond recognition and I believe as some of his pace wains he will likely adapt like Jermain Defoe to continue scoring goals..

Apologies to have picked you up on it.

I was talking in general of those people claiming player power, some of who have pointed the finger at Vardy (Although most are saying Kasper and Morgan being the main culprits Vardy has been mentioned).

I'm with you, I don't believe there is player power as such to cause such a downfall, I agree Ranieri and Puel are their own downfalls, don't get me wrong the players are probably believed Ranieri changed things to quickly and didn't like, agree or get on with those changes, but ultimately it was too much, too soon. Under Puel, I can imagine they're bored and don't agree with what he's doing but I don't believe there is player power impacting on team selection or lack of a performance, it's simply just not working.

Give him the contract ASAP his record and form for Leicester puts him amongst the best strikers in the world. And. He. Plays. For. Leicester.

Let that sink in. Half our fans don't even realise how good he is.

Just look at the other strikers who have scored the number of goals he has and who they play for and what they are paid and you'll see Vardy is an anomaly. Our anomaly.

Absolutely by far the most important player at the club. Without his goals we would be in real trouble and you can't buy a 15-20 goal striker of his quality for much less than 60 million these days.

We have far few players who can put the ball in the net as it is without losing the best we have.  Personally if he leaves I don't think money will be the deciding factor. He's made it clear he wants to win things and that will be more important to him than say an extra 10k per week.

It won't be in England then. He's absolutely irreplaceable for us and we can't afford to lose him but no club of the top 6 will come for him

In a better team you could argue he'd rival Kane for goals scored this season, he's that good.

Honestly do think this now. He could get 25-30 in a better side.

He gets 17 despite us not creating that much rather than because of it.

He does miss a fair few as well but definitely would be better in a team that creates more chances.

Thank god he's the wrong side of 30 as no one is gonna bid what he's worth to us. If he was 26 he'd go for a fortune, Lukaku-esque fee or close.

Hearing chat s*** get banged catch on in America would be great lol

It already has. He will fit in here like a glove. Looking forward to watching him play live in MLS, though hopefully not before some more silverware with Leicester.

I can't see Vardy leaving Leicester for a big club. He's a destroyer whose passion is wrecking big clubs, not joining them. I predict 3-4 more seasons with Leicester then he'll come to MLS and party with a bunch of movie stars for a few years.

I find this comparison a bit far-fetched, simply because they have a different style of play (Kane gets a lot more opportunities per match and shoots from all angles, whereas Vardy does best with what limited opportunities he has, he's also a lot faster than Kane).

Let's also not forget that Vardy is six and a half years older than Kane.

Not sure paying 140k for a 31/32 year old is good business

i like him been a legend, but I do often wonder if he dictates our style of play up top, thus making us a bit one dimensional.

Hard to tell because no ones really got to start for more that a few games.

Hank.

Puel’s slow possesion game is the exact opposite of the ideal style to  suit Vardy. If you asked opposing managers how would they like us to play to nullify Vardy’s pace they would have said ‘pass it around slowly from the back so we can get our defence organised.’

So I don’t see how he is

making us one dimensional, there has been a massive change in style and tactics within this season.

The fact that his strike rate is so good is an indication of how good he really is, and how much he may have adapted his play.

The ‘one trick pony’ that was trotted out by some posters on here in the past has well and truly been proven wrong.

Bit of an overreaction?

I wasn't about when Lineker was playing so difficult to compare the two so yeah probably an over reaction lol

However when looking at it objectively, Vardy's goals led us to winning the Premier League after playing a big part in keeping us alive the year before, followed by scoring in a Champions League 1/4. Lineker has scored more goals, but did he ever pull off anything that ridiculous for us? (Genuine question as I don't know the answer haha)

In a better team he would leave Kane standing. look at both players shots to goals ratios. Last time I seen it Kane was on three shots to every shot Vardy had for what 6 more goals.

What's even more staggering and unfortunately working against Puel and some players on the pitch is the fact that Vardy is too often forced to create his own chances, as he's often on his own up front, with no to little support from midfield or Okazaki.

Our passing through the middle has become suspect - we usually tend to move it through either flank, which becomes somewhat predictable. Mahrez underperforming certainly plays into it, but the same could be said about Gray and - to some extent - Albrighton, although it's hard to knock Marc's workrate.

I can't count the amount of times I've seen Vardy tracking back and moving to either flank in order to receive the ball more easily.

I'm not sure how that's disproving me? (Unless you aren't trying to?)
