So this question isn't will he, but more could he be used to his full potential in a front three?

Based on current form, you'd have to say Vardy is the second choice to Harry Kane but after that the options are slim in terms of form, since England more often than not play with a front three in competitive games opposed to friendlies, if Vardy did start, Kane would be the main striker which could mean Vardy one side and somebody the other.

It's a silly question really because a lot of England players can play multiple positions but in this scenerio, can Vardy be a threat in a front three, not playing as the main striker.

It's pretty clear he is going as Kane's understudy and back up main striker.

If he plays 3 upfront Sterling, Lingard, Alli and Rashford will be used on the wings

If he changes formation during a game and goes 2 up front then JV will probably be used.

No. Wasted if not playing as the central striker which won't happen unless Kane is out. The only other way for Vardy with England is to play with Kane in a two up front.

Cant really argue with Vardy playing second fiddle to kane atm.

But if Kanes injured and vardy gets his chance as the number 9 id be confident he would get behind and terrorise some of them back lines.

I'm a huge Vardy fan and love watching him play for England but I'd rather he didn't play at all than be played on the left wing.

as a number 9 he won the PL with bloody Leicester, scored in a CL 1/4 final and has scored 15 goals this year. Deserves more respect than that.

People keep saying Vardy will be a great impact sub but I'm not convinced he will be. He could do well if we're in front against a good team and we're sitting back but if we're bringing him on when we're chasing a game against a team sitting back then I don't see him having an impact.

England won't play with three strikers only two and most probably one of them (Vardy) out wide!. Southgate will try to be ultra defensive and maybe Vardy has a part to play on the counter!

The only place for Vardy is up front on his own with 3 behind. He plays well against the top Prem teams and will against the top world teams as his goal scoring record suggests. More room against these teams as they push up more. If he doesn't start tonight I may never watch England again
