Thinking aloud, with our midfield dilemma for this one, I'm toying with the notion of 3 at the back (Dragovic, Maguire, +1... maybe even Huth as an anchor) then using the 'extra' man for midfield. Something like Amartey, Choudhury, Silva. Then perm 3 from Gray, Iheanacho, Diabate and Mahrez to drift as wingers/'in-the-pocket' and Vardy up front. A weird kind of 3-3-3-1 formation, with the forward 3 dropping to help out! It leaves us defensively weak on the flanks so maybe tweak to include Fuchs, but that messes with the balance. Dunno just playing with whacko ideas really!

If I knew more of the U23s, I'd perhaps be suggesting names from there to supplement the midfield.

That's pretty insane. We'd get buggered senseless down the flanks.

“I know it’s difficult and perhaps the players have the World Cup in their heads or different things. My only concern is my team and my squad. We deserved the last result and it is important to correct this. There remains three important games for us: West Ham, Arsenal, Tottenham. Two great teams to finish and West Ham, also, at home. We need a strong reaction, to try together to give a good response.” Puel

:shakey:

Well that really has put the kiss of death on things lol

Actually don't care if we win this one jot (and haven't for the last few games). If we do, great, it'd be nice to secure a top 10 finish, and push WHU towards the drop (want Soton + Swansea to stay up). If we lose hope it puts more pressure on Puel. Win-win.

I do think as meaningless as this fixture is for us it will also enevitably define what happens next re both Puel and the start to next season if we finish this season spiralling downwards it could go into next season making us favourites for relegation

come on Leicester!!!

Thinking about it, this game will really say a lot about how things are going to go moving forward- if Puel can't get a reaction out of them after last week's horror show, I would be sacking him straight after the final whistle if I was in charge.

If he does get a performance out of them and we win, there may well be something there to work with.

Massive game for him.

Had a bust up with Moyesy, unlikely he’ll play

Moyes would be daft not to play him, they need the points, principles go out of the window in a relegation scrap. Although if not they have others players who can equally punish us and we’ll let them. Really not looking forward to it.

Anyone

Anyone but Simpson

Dragovic

Morgan

Not Chilwell

Amartey

Silva

Diabete

Iheanacho

Mahrez

Vardy

Is Maguire injured ??

Giving Morgan the start over anyone, U23's included is gutsy.

Anything other than a comfortable win and he's gone, surely? If he hasnt already...

I can see that too, really positive reaction needed

can't see it myself but desperately hope I am wrong and we turn in a good performance and result

Carroll could be dropped after a row with Moyes.

We usually tend to struggle with big forwards, and if he actually plays alongside Arnautovic on Saturday just hope we're set up to avoid conceding as many set-pieces as possible.

I really hope we make a decent effort here - I do actually think that the competition is entitled to expect all sides not to roll over (esp at home) and this fixture is significant to other sides at the bottom . Plus I would love to see Karen and the dildo brothers relegated

I have been adamant that the club ought to stick with Puel and I still firmly believe that. But I don’t think that is how this now plays out. From the ITKs on here, the press and what we are seeing on the pitch, I think he’s a dead man walking. Sadly, if that is true, the damage that is now being done to the club may force a change before the end of the season. The whole thing is a great big, stinking mess. In my completely uninformed opinion, we are now a club where we seem to be dictated to by a group of ageing players. I nailed my colours to the mast a few weeks ago and suggested a massive overhaul of playing staff. I still think CP should be allowed to do that and populate the squad with his players that want to play his way and for him. Otherwise we are in groundhog day. It won’t matter who the next manager is - if he doesn’t play the way this group want to play, he’ll become isolated. So is it the case that CP isn’t strong enough to enforce his methodology? I don’t think we know. We know he can’t enforce it with this squad, but I think we should find out if he can with ‘his’ squad. Otherwise, with the exception of one or two, we are protecting a squad from whom we’ve already had their best days. Just my thoughts.

This.  Spot on top post.

By his continued presence, Claude is clearly far better in explaining his selection policy and management strategy to the DoF and Owners than he is to the players or fans - if he can overcome the shattered team morale , toxic atmosphere being created by the lynch mob and decimation of the midfield to summon up a win on Saturday , he will deserve some admiration - unfortunately the reality is likely to be depressingly familiar .

.....I suspect should his contract be terminated then it will be before the usual press meeting tomorrow. A statement to be issued at about 9.00pm  tonight and all clarification to be  given at the press conference.

It would have cast a cloud prior to the dinner last night.
