After scoring yesterday, it looked like huge relief for him after the tragic Sophie incident.

I predict he'll have a really strong end to the season.

Glad this has been brought up ......  must have been playing on his mind big time over the last month or so ...... perhaps  affecting his decision making and certainly some snatching at his shots .....

I don't understand the hate he gets on here. I remember a game in Mahrez last season where he played a stinker and did absolutely nothing defensively and then scored a fantastic free kick. After the game and for games of nothing afterwards his fan club said how he was worth having in the team because of his one second of sublime skill that he can produce any time. Surely Maddison should have the same opportunity. That Free kick was as good as any we've seen in a while and he really worked hard defensively in a position that he wasn't used to.

He's 21 and full of the same skills as Mahrez with more defensive effort.

I love the lad.

......Might be worth noting down the stats he’s got so far this season & compare it to past Prem league midfielders who were his age & playing their 1st season of Prem football!

.......Might also be worth comparing his Prem stats from this season with the likes of Erikson, Lindgard, Bernardo Silva & the majority of other top midfielders in the league!!

He may have the best assist stats in English football but he still needs to use his brain abit better in certain scenarios free kicks and corners spring to mind.hrs still young and has a lot of learning and growninf up to do.the fact he didn’t get a call up to the England squad proves he’s far from the finishing product.southgate is no fool and isn’t bias like certain fans on here......

Really don’t get the stick he takes at times given what he can do. When you consider someone like Albrighton gets rimmed by our fans despite having nowhere near the impact this season, I can only assume it’s because people believe he has the talent to go right to the top?

Mentioned it before in other topics, Imo we will see the best of him next season the experience he will gain this season will be invaluable, the same goes with Barnes & Choudhury.

The difference Rodgers has made already has been impressive, players yesterday off the ball were moving into space and cutting through Burnley easily even with 10 men, Maddison was at the heart of this, Rodgers will develop these players to the next level, exciting times ahead especially if we can secure the signing of Tielemans. :scarf:

I thought he was in tears after he scored, and that you could see the lads are a bit phased by it, although supportive. They were almost keeping him in the middle of the group and protecting him, while he regained his composure. I was moved but...

No one else mentioned it, so maybe I was guilty of over-interpretation.:dunno:

There was some irony that Chillers was the one who flattened him this time, he normally takes a battering in every game, but usually from the opposition.

I really like Maddison, the only thing that frustrates me are his indirect set pieces. If Tielemans can take the corners and free kicks that are sent into the box and Maddison can take the free kicks that give him an opportunity to shoot that would be much better in my opinion.

In the hole. That’s where he bossed the play, in the hole. Fabulous to see.

Credit for Rodgers tactically, credit for Madders for execution.

Space is King, movement is Queen.

PS. Sign Tielemans. :fc:

MOTD highlighting the space that he had on Saturday .....

if teams are going to play two up top then they have a problem with us - who do they make sure they are tight to with numbers.?? Our tactics presumably dictate that it’s not an easy issue to cope with.

however, giving us space with ten men was rather odd. It was better addressed after half time .......

He more likely will not be far away for that this year.

Just shy of 20% of the season to go, I think he'll end up on ~8 goals/8 assists, which would be fantastic. More likely more assists than goals though.

Really is impressive how you manage a Mahrez dig in every single post you make.

Maddison has the same skills as Mahrez, I don't think so not yet. The fact is Maddison's head has grown out of proportion to his displays. This strutting about having to take the majority of free-kicks and every corner is annoying. He still has a lot to learn and how folk can reckon he's the best thing since sliced bread is beyond me. He's good but indifferent and needs to knuckle down and not think he's the prima donna he clearly isn't!!

I didn't see the message on his shirt when I ripped him for taking that yellow after the goal, so apologies for that.

Still, as beautiful as the thought is, I do think it was a case of poor judgement.  The team is already a man down, you have a propensity for picking up yellows anyway for clumsy tackles and diving - do all the things you did to express your grief after scoring, but save the jersey thing till after the game.  But he's a kid, and kids do impulsive things sometimes.  If you're going to do them, at least he did one for the right reasons.i

I say..well done to the young man..and the understanding teammates...

We have around the ground the pornography of being forced on, with advertisement hordings and signs...

Occasionally a young guy wants to get a point over..." Good on him"...!!
