No excuses, just potential reasons for our lacklustre and disjointed performance today.

today? what about since January and technically since puel took over, cause bar a couple of performances against lack lustre teams we've been shit since he's been here.

Like what I'm seeing from Mendy, he could have a chance for us.

He’s been good in all three games so far and the best out of Iborra him and Choudhury overall. He’s worked with Puel before and knows his system so I could see him playing a role this year.

Musa looks like a whole new player.

Interesting.

He's looking like he may take Diabate's place if Diabate keeps up like this.

Are we actually a bit shite everyone? It’s not a great Prem squad really is it?

Don’t say that Col please otherwise we will never get rid of Claude.

End of of last season it was;

‘let him have a pre season and the chance to get his own players in’ so saying it’s not his fault the players are shit does concern me!

I agree that the second half to last season was a bit of a disaster on the whole, but I'm willing to give him some credit due to the fact that Mahrez is now gone and because of the World Cup situation, plus the slightly altered transfer window period.

I'll slate Puel, the club and the team again If we fail to get some high earners off the wage bill before the transfer window closes, as a consequence fail to bring some more wingers and maybe another centre-back in and/or once we see a series of bad results this coming season. Let's remember that Shakespeare got the sack after four losses against Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal last season.

Not as disappointed as we will be if we don't bring anyone in to even attempt to replace him lol

Thing is, whoever we get, people won't be happy.

They'll expect said player just to hit the ground running and be capable of what Mahrez did straight away which ain't gonna happen.

Whoever the poor sod is who does end up 'replacing' him, will forever be compared to Mahrez and will have no chance of filling his shoes.

I'd be almost tempted to spend the money elsewhere and change the system rather than try and replace him 'like for like'.

Barring the need for another wing option, the squad is more than good enough for a comfortable league finish. If we struggle it's a failure on Puel's behalf.

We've had one good run and one bad run since he took over. Might as well give him the benefit of the doubt- missing out on Europe was disappointing, but we were near the bottom when he took over and 9th in the top flight is about as well as we have done in the last 40 years aside from 2016.

Who has got a "Prem squad" though? Bournemouth have been comfortable for the last 3 seasons with the likes of Steve Cook starting every week. Newcastle finished strong last season despite the fact, on paper, their squad just looks like a "Championship squad".

I do agree that our squad isn't that good but neither are most of the other squads (apart from top 6 of course).

Nailed on there Col.

I don’t know mate and don’t hold much sway by pre season games. It just doesn’t feel like a particularly good quality squad does it?

Relying on Musa, Mendy et al...

you do realise thats in 2 weeks time right? im not just blaming Puel but the whole club is a disaster waiting to happen. The squad is relegation material as it stands,2 weeks to rectify it.

No, it isn't. But it's certainly bloated, that's for sure.

Yeah it’s in 12 days time. About one player a day!

but you know we didn't deserve to finish that high don't you? it was just sheer luck that nobody else could string 2 wins together, even Burnley who finished 7th.
