Musa looked really good but we need to remember it's just a friendly match and we know what he can do in a game like this..

Happy to give him a chance in coming season though:P

Plenty of positives to take out of this match.

Ward, Johnson, Choudhury (to some extent). Mendy, Musa, Iheanacho, Ricardo Pereira.

Albrighton and Simpson coming back from injury.

Silva getting his first few minutes upon returning from Russia.

Again no injuries. Pretty much everyone got on the pitch for a few minutes of match practice.

Second half performance much better than the one in the first half - given the fact that the team had to endure a tough week in training and that they were fighting 34 degrees centigrade weather, not so bad.

I'd give Musa a long runout on that left side in both the next couple of games.

Pace to burn and more often than not something of an end product.  Pace frightens people - we've become too lackadaisical and pedestrian for me.

Just one injury or suspension? Peanuts.

As its stands, we've got enough players for cover in almost all positions.

We were in parts royally fücked with plenty of injuries and suspensions (and Mahrez going missing) during the second half of last season already.

Don't panic - we've been there before.

It was half said in jest but still, injury to Vardy and we are well and truly ****ed.

Let’s not get too concerned about the season ahead based on pre season results. Our 1st team drew with Mansfield in pre season the year we won it.

what I would take from this game is that Musa could work in this system (certainly better than diabete) and that mendy can add something to the squad.

these are glorified training sessions. I’m confident week Friday we’ll be ready

I think we've got a decent squad, I've just got no faith in the manager.

Well we've turned down a decent bid for him … so maybe Puel sees something

These friendlies are not only about fitness... I also get to add to my ignore list for the coming season. So far it's been a very useful exercise.

It’s on my ‘to do list’ - just need a couple of hours free time

What we have to realise, pre season friendly or not is that if you look past our starting 11, it is absolute garbage.  Im pretty sure Puel knows that but they are going to get game time anyway.  Our starting 11 minus one or two players that we "should" get in to strengthen, isnt all that bad.

But it does show that we are paying probably 6-8 players decent wages who should be nowhere near a Premier League football team.

If we can keep Maguire, maybe add another CB, and get a decent signing in a player that can create, we will be alright next season, barring injuries.

It’s this type of post that makes me a little worried. This reliance on players like Musa. Unless he becomes a very different player, we all know he’s just not good enough. Yet, we aren’t replacing him (and others) with better.

Its a big gamble I think. The Prem takes no prisoners.

Rational takeaways:

Udinese played a strong side from the onset, and it showed. They have also been together as a team for longer this preseason.

Nacho, Mendy, Musa all looked decent. Mendy has looked like he deserves a place since the first preseason match.

Diabate’s development seems to have stalled. Would not be opposed to a loan, if circumstances are right.

Ricardo has a touch of quality.

Maddison was probably worth the money spent.

Need to sign another CB. Too many years on the legs of Morgan and Evans to rely on their health.

That's a great summary. Interesting that they have Johnson a decent chunk of time in the team today, though he made a number of errors.

I worry about our lack of creativity without Mahrez. Maddison is going to be good for us but we need more. Very interesting final 2 weeks of the season, I hope we've got someone lined up.

Did anyone have any problems with LCFC.tv? I put it on and didn’t dare so anything else with my phone but had no problems.

Musa and Mendy have shown to me that have something to offer us, especially Mendy, he’s looked busy and decent the past few times I’ve seen him this pre-season

It's growing. There will be no posts left to read by October

I’d be delighted to eat humble pie and be proved wrong if Musa sticks around and has a great season for us.

We obviously saw something when we signed him so maybe there’s a decent player in there after all...

Under the circumstances, I'm willing to give him some time.

But should the first half of this season turn out like the second half of last season, I won't shed a tear if he had to leave.

Deserved more from the game. Udinese did nothing and what they did do was due to god awful defending. Not too concerned about the defence as the first half back 5 (including keeper) none of them will start against Man Utd.
