£15m to potentially £25m has to be beyond our wildest dreams for a player that couldn't even make the bench last year.

 

Does anybody know whether we also got a loan fee from CSKA? 

 

Could be argued that he was a good signing after all...?

I don't think we did get a fee from CSKA as it wasn't ever reported and doesn't say it on transfermarket.com which I always take as gospel if there is a dispute on price even though they won't be right all the time. 

 

According to transfermarket.com we bought him for €19.5m and sold him for €16.5m and he's probably had £4.5m in wages over 18 months as CSKA covered the other six months with the loan.

 

We could end up breaking even including his wages depending on what the add ons are with his new club. Hopefully they are performance related rather than future transfer fee as he should tear it up in Saudi as bad as he was here.

Yet he might have been useful... if we had adjusted to him... or he might have been able to work on the issues required to be sucessful in the prem.

A major disappointment. Sevilla away was the beginning of the end. Was only with us a year as he never played again after Sheffield United. For the transfer fee maybe our worst signing. (Slimani did score goals to keep us up in 2017 before anyone makes an argument).

 

The World Cup game against Iceland was the day he made foxestalk sit up and take notice. Maybe there is a good player there. Hope it works out for him elsewhere.
