probably explains why he was shakey in the first 20 minutes seemed find after though apart from one mis placed pass, thought he done quite well

After the first 25 minutes playing on his unfamiliar side with Albrighton and Ricardo both saying "No you play right back" I thought Evans did ok.

Reading the Saints social media it appears they are very unimpressed eith Wesley Hoedt, who looked like a decent player at Lazio and many of us on here would have wanted. He is a liability apparently and not good enough at this level. 

I have nothing against Southampton, in fact quite I like like them, but I would love if we beat them via a non-existent penalty just to see Hughes have a meltdown.

Hopefully Hoedt will carry on last seasons form - whenever I saw him in their matches he looked pretty poor

I'd like to see Diabate given a run out up front for this game. That would test Hoedt out rather well. It'll inevitably be Kelechi to start because of his pre season form but against Southampton I think Diabate would be more of a threat!

You wouldn't if you'd seen him in pre-season or in last night's game!

Dibate needs game time but I think nacho is more liable to score

In the first half Albrighton put a ball in the box which the keeper claimed and Maddison hammered him as a pull back to Ricardo just outside the box would have been the better option. Marc especially needs to learn this and not just cross all the time.

I hope Iheanacho proves me wrong and gets a hat-trick against the Saints but I felt he had three good opportunities against United which he fluffed. No danger in giving the young man a run out especially when our goals so far have come from crosses or Maddison anyway.

We should have got a little loan signing to make up the numbers up front, someone like a Tammy Abraham maybe who might provide an option. Maybe we should have signed Diouf after all

I think we probably would have signed someone (carried on pursuing Diouf?) if we'd managed to sell one/both of Ulloa/Slimani before the window closed.

As it was, with an already bloated squad we were probably wary of adding to the ranks - even as a backup - without shipping some out first. I wouldn't be surprised to see us revisit Diouf or similar in Jan.

We are a bit light up front, but Vardy+Iheanacho should be enough to get by until then, although we do lack a plan B when one of them is out. We do still have Okazaki at least, and we played a fair amount of preseason without a recognised striker on the pitch, and Gray taking on that role instead.

This is hopefully where we really show what this new midfield pairing of Mendy & Wilf can do. Maddison will be afforded space and I can see at least 1 coming from Iheanacho.

These were absolutely appalling last season we played them there, watch the goals back and it's all comical defending, one of Shinji's goals was a beauty though.

Want a 3-1 win please. Nacho with two, Shinji off the bench with a third. Same formation and selection as previous, but with Maguire and Evans swapping sides and Nacho in for Vardy.
