Apparently Matty James has picked up an injury to his injury and is undergoing additional surgery. It could make for a whole series on casualty.

It's a good job we've seen him play a few games or I'd honestly think he's an English Carlos Kaiser.

Please link the source, or else it remains a bit too shady.

Could well be that it's a regular surgery that he requires during his recovery process, anyway (not uncommon).

Could end up as an early retirement situation. He just seems to be broken and so fragile, that it's a long way back, if ever!

He's just 27 though, and so has 5-6 years left at a decent level (Championship now, most likely) IF and it's a big IF, he can get over this latest set-back and stay fit for the remainder of his career.

Feel bad for him, but at least he has a decent contract with us and the support of our medical team. I predict the moment he gets fit again, he will be off to a Championship club.

Have to admit at times I've been guilty of finding it laughable at the thought of him being offered a ridiculous contract extension or the injury on top of yet another injury.........but then I kinda stop and try to take in that this is a thoroughly professional, likeable and talented footballer having his entire career stripped from him minute by minute and season after season.

I don't believe he has a long term future here but seriously hope he can get back to a consistent week in week out consistency without injury for many years, I just don't think it will be at a Premier league level.

I had high hopes for him and he was well ahead of Drinkwater in his development…. Such as massive shame for him…. He’s only 27 and there is time for him to recover, but, he seems so fragile…

it it would be lovely to see him make a come back…

Such a shame, could have been a real player if he'd stayed injury-free but it's got to the point where it's going to be impossible for him to get anywhere near his potential. One or two more like this and I wouldn't be surprised to see him retire.

Just makes it all the more bizarre that he's in our squad over Kingy though.

I know we all joke about it, but you've really got to feel for the guy. Bad injuries at Utd meant he was sold to us, he then has a few years where he played well and became a regular in our prem side, to then do his ACL. It's been a tough ride for him. The mental strength he must have to get up and keep going even after all these set backs, and for that, he has my respect.

was never impressed with him in the prem. good in the championship though.

He was better than Drinky in our first season back and we haven't really seen him for any length of time since.

Well, when he went down with that injury during the season we stayed up I never expected to see him return, got to give him credit for not giving up but his career has a pro football player surely is about done unfortunately.

He must be close to the point of having to call it a day, surely?

I doubt he'll call it a day whilst hes still picking up a nice pay packet from us. While i have sympathy for him for his injuries, he should never have been given a new contract. Absolutely ridiculous!

He'd probably get his contract paid up wouldn't he? Not sure how it works tbh
