In what will probably be the first in a very short lived series of one I thought I would ask the Foxes Talk faithful what they would do in a key decision in the match.

This one is quite obvious. Your captain and premier league winning centre back has just been sent off. The game is poised at 1-1, you have the momentum but find yourselves down to 10 men. We all know the game situation and what Puel did, but what changes would you have made?

(Let's try not to turn this into a Puel or Morgan bashing thread we have enough of them)

To be honest I'm not sure what I would have done following the sending off. For me Morgan has to take responsibility because he's experienced enough to know better, but he should have been replaced as soon as he was on a final warning. Everyone around me could see he was in serious trouble and unfortunately as soon as he was sent off we were almost waiting for the inevitable.

For me Puel did everything how I would have done after the sending off, but he should have made a change beforehand that would have meant there was no need to be in that reactionary situation.

I'd have potentially dragged Amartey infield and pushed Ricardo back, but then bought on Iborra instead of Albrighton and go 4-3-1-1 to maintain solidity without isolating Vardy. But, Puels response was reasonable and what most managers would do

Brought on Evans for Nacho and Iborra for Maddison.

Evans for experience and its only one change to the back four.

Iborra for a Maddison, he's better defensively and give us a target to hit with longer balls and a presence in both boxes.

Move Amartey into CB, drop Pereira back to RB.

Take Maddison off in favour of Iborra at CDM, dropping back into a 3atb if Chilwell/Pereira go forwards.

5-10 minutes later, Pereira/Iheanacho off for Albrighton/Okazaki.

Hope for a classic-style counter, long-ball to Vardy. Otherwise, try and hold out for a draw.

Shape wise I wouldn’t have change a lot but I’d probably put Ibo on for a bit of height. The belief seemed to drain from the players more than anything because if they kept the ball better Everton were defensively high

...go 3-4-2!!

Amartey becomes a centre back, bring on Fuchs for Mendy, drop Maddison into midfield to pick a pass to release Nacho and Vardy.

Just because you are down to 10 men does not mean you have to concede the pitch to the opposition. They may have had the extra man but we dropped off too much.

Once both Amartey and Morgan had been booked we effectively had our defensive right side playing with the thought that the next tackle could see one of them sent off.

I would have had one of them substituted at half time before Morgan stupidly challenged Richarlison on the halfway line and got what he deserved for a total unnecessary action that gave the ref the excuse to brandish another yellow

Puel’s failure was not seeing what could happen and proactively reacting before Morgan’s actions changed the game

OP said no Puel bashing thread. Hindsight is also a wonderful thing. No one hooks a CB off because he's on a yellow.

Evans would have been the obvious choice and I think that would have better than moving players around. Evans for Nacho.

Maybe shortly after bring Albrighton on for Maddison for a more natural wide player. But no doubt that would have got boo's from the crowd.

100% should have taken Wes off though, after the tackle on the touchline. I understand people saying you can't take off everyone on a yellow but in this case I'm pretty sure everyone would have understood.

This was my first thought, Centre Back sent off, bring on a centre back, Nacho was having the least impact so Evans for Nacho for me also. Keep our shape keep them out settle things down after the red and then I would have brought on Iborra to keep possession with a chance of stealing the points from a set piece.

I don't disagree with Puel's sub at the time, but it wasn't the one I would have gone for.

Usually I’d agree but there was a feeling of inevitability with that sending off. With him already being sent off this season in similar circumstances I think it was a gamble by Puel that didn’t need to be taken. I’m not one that gets on the back of the manager often but I do think he cost us against Everton

Yes, it is certainly true that no-one hooks a CB off (just) because he is on a yellow. However, that was not the situation. Morgan was clearly struggling with the speed of Richarlison. A few minutes earlier he had  gotten away with a “bundle into the back of someone” tackle and the Everton fans were screaming for a second booking. He clearly was in significant danger of doing it again and getting a red card. I don’t have 20/20 hindsight. However, I was sitting in my house shouting out “take him off.....he’s going to get booked again!” He will always be one of my great heroes, but, sadly, he is a yard off the pace now, which makes him a liability....especially with a clever opponent like Richarlison and a useless referee who is hopelessley inconsistent with what constitutes a yellow card.

Bring Evans on for Iheanacho. That way you still have Maddison to try and link up with Vardy and still have a decent centre-back pairing on the pitch.

And then if you did want to be more cautious in any way, bring on Iborra on for Maddison who I presume was knackered or would be. Iborra at least still gives you some way of protection along with the other 2 centre-mids. Or if not Maddison, bring Iborra on for Ndidi who I thought had a poor game. That way you still hae some midfield presence to help out Mendy (who did well with what he was up against). I just wasn't a fan of shifting Amartey inside and bringing Pereira deeper.

Switch Jamie Vardy for Danny Ward.

Put Danny on Kaspers shoulders covering top right hand corner.

game ends 1-1.  Easy. Even an idiot could solve this problem.  #PuelOut

surely that would have put us down to 9 men with a penalty for them ??  I mean if you are going to come up with a suggestion, at least make it workable :D

Go 3-4-2, stick Maguire up front, bring on Albrighton in a back 3 to ping balls up to slabhead to knock down for Vardy to get onto in a Phillips/Quinn esque manner. We win 3-2, fans and media alike call for Nalis to be made permanent manager.

It worked for M. O'neil,...with Elliot....

not for first call selection,..but part of a plan B or C,during a game....why not...:)
