Vardy and John Percy speak.

You and I both know how the game works.

But but but but but... unless there are direct quotes in a story then some people refuse to believe people in and around the dressing room leak stuff out to the press.

And it's not just players who do it.

You can try and tell people this but some just won't listen.

PS. With or without Vardy, I hope we smash West Ham.

I'm not commenting on the 'Vardy being dropped rumours'/effect on the team until I've heard Rebekah Vardy's expert opinion on this.

Dropping Vardy is a big gamble. Reminds me of when Ruud Gullit dropped Shearer

Win, and Puel will get a stay of execution from the fans, lose and he’ll be slated, especially if we don’t score.

Big game today imo. I think Puel’s tenure is more tentative than most would dare say.

Another case of Puel being damned  if he does and damned if he don’t  . Vardy is our best  striker by a country mile  and total legend but he’s been rubbish so far this season and doesn’t look interested . You can cry tactics lack of playing  to his strengths or  Puel and so on . For me no player is above getting benched if they have been poor,  any other player and people wouldn’t blink an eyelid . So he’s been benched and you’ll get cry’s of  Puel doesn’t know what he’s doing . He plays and Puels bowed down to player power or doesn’t know what he’s doing playing a off form un interested player

He's still scored 3 times in 7 starts though, we've no viable consistent alternative. Iheanacho seems more of a provider in the PL than an out and out goal scorer and Okazaki is a non-entity. So that leaves the Gray Project. Vardy is the first name on the team sheet and it's not as if Puel doesn't have previous for persistently picking his favourites regardless of form. He has to play.

So you think some players should be unstoppable despite how rubbish they are playing?

I'm sorry but you can't do that, there has to be consequences for all players if they play badly. Even more so if they are being a rat and going against the manager.

Puel is absolutely right to drop him in those circumstances.

Seems like once again player power is going to remove another manager from the job. When the power is being wielded by crap like King, Simpson and a load of 30+ players not far off the knackers yard people need to be careful what they wish for.

For me when it comes to Vards then yes he’s undroppable! Who would u replace him with?? Regardless of form you don’t drop your best player especially when he’s such an influencial leader of the squad! U can dress it up however u want with regards to form etc but the fact of the matter is we are by far a better team when Vardy is in it than when he’s not! It’s just another erratic decision from a manager that will just alienate himself even more from the players, staff & the majority of fans that aren’t wearing blinkers

It seems that’s Puel’s view when it comes to the captain.

For the record I’m mainly talking regarding last season.

Vardy is still better than our alternatives. Give me strength if Okazaki starts. But I'll back the manager, no player has a defined right to start.

I don't get where all this "he'll be gone if we don't win" is coming from. Is this just because Vardy might be dropped? The lowest we can drop to today, with a defeat, is 12th place. It's not as bad as some people make it out to be. My biggest concern is conceding goals.

Yes Geoff but is there any evidence Vardy and Puel have a difference of opinion.....???

Pretty much this. Could you imagine how we'd have felt if we were playing Palace tomorrow and we found out they weren't playing Zaha? We'd be pissing ourselves.

If we had decent alternatives I'd get it, but we don't. We are already a striker light for me despite Vardy.

What will he actually do? Assume it'll be a winger to come in with Maddison back at 10 and Iheanacho up front.

Exactly mate. It’s crazy. Imagine it’ll be Gray to come in if reports are true.

12th or not, we will probably give him the chop. Vardy under allardyce would be a laugh.

I have been broadly going along with Puel and keeping the dressing room on their toes can be a good thing but this just smacks as a wild punt and a bad call. It’s an eye catching way of saying “I am in control” rather than an intelligent tactical decision. He must really feel the pressure for his job at this point which I am slightly surprised at because results wise I wouldn’t have seen him sacked but calls like this do look a bit like a dead man walking...

Oh well. Roll on 2pm teamsheet and 3pm kick off and let’s have a good showing regardless of the XI.

Why does it smack of "I am in control"? He's not the first manager to drop a star player. Anyhow, he is in control and no player has right to play every week - didn't we go through all of this with Ranieri.

You may be a little early we kick off 530 today

The worry with this is that it accelerates his sacking and we end up with someone we don’t really want because those we have identified  aren’t currently available  ..............

my my hope is that this is simply claude flexing his muscles because Vardy wasn’t honest with him on Monday night and the owners will sort it out between the two. (Though clearly Vards wont have any respect for CP now - if he ever did )

Well I'd say our two best performances actually came without him in the team. The question is just whether someone else can step up and take the chances if they come along.

I’m saying it doesn’t. It is him attempting to show it with an eye catching selection.

He’s far from being in control & is just making yet another bizarre decision that alienates himself further from both the players & fans! To drop your best player & leader of the pack just shows how deluded the guy is

Just how far are we from being able to get the man we want through the door?  Can only assume it’s next summer which makes the rest of the season pretty ‘meh’ .............

Liverpool and Southampton??  We were toothless against Liverpool ( wonder just what we were missing that day .....) and Southampton were just a poor side (our goals being a defensive error and a speculative grass cutter from thirty yards). you can play well but you need someone up top to finish things off. Don’t underestimate how opposition defences sh1t themselves against Vardy and are less comfortable taking risks with the ball, turning possession over to us cheaply.
