Back four were fantastic again.

 

4 games, 3 clean sheets and 1 goal conceded. 

 

Morgan and Evans in particular deserve some praise. They’ve been solid for 4 games in a row now and have faced target men, pacy strikers and attacking midfielders. Watford thrown everything at them and they responded with bodies on the line, blocks, tackles, interceptions. Fantastic defensive display from the pair of them.

 

Also Pereira has been improving defensively every game. 

 

For me the only way Maguire or Soyuncu get into the side is if we switch to a back 3.

I’m sure the usual bunch will be on here to have a moan about something or another, but to be 7th after probably the most emotional month in most of the players’ and staff’s lives is testament to them all.

What chances, apart from the one when success was in all the others were well blocked and yes defence is also part of the game and we did it brilliantly when needed to

It was certainly entertaining but we rode our luck a bit with being so open., neverless a great result and a beautiful goal from Madders.

I love the aggressiveness we brought today. Completely ditched the possession style in the first half and went back to what won us the league. I think its great to be flexible in your offensive approach, but where we are right now as a club in terms of the technical abilities required to successfully play a possession game, i think its best to predominantly play the counter attack. The lethality of our pace is very clear, and the possession style doesn't seem to let that attribute flourish. Love the approach to today's match, love Puel's development of the squad. Lets keep it going.

So happy for Mendy. He looked so promising until his injury. And then seemed to really struggle to get back in the side. I'm glad he's getting a proper chance now.
