We want King gone as well though. I'd think our preferred option is to sell both and sign someone who is good enough and fits into the way we want to play.

I'd imagine it depends what the offer is, if it's a championship club prepared to pay £10k a week and he's on £40/£50k here, it's not even worth our time I suppose.

Better than 50k a week to not even be registered?

We have until after the window to make that call don't we? I'd imagine it's a waiting game of seeing what we can get in and then deciding who we're going to let go.

Agree though, no point in keeping him if we end up not registering him at the end of the month.

SILVA TO FRANCE?

Bordeaux are hoping to sign Adrien Silva on loan from Leicester City, according to French outlet Sud Ouest.

The Ligue 1 side are looking for a central midfielder to enhance their squad in the second half of the season. Silva has rarely been used by Claude Puel this season and could be allowed to make a loan move in January.

Bordeaux begins discussions over loan transfer for out-of-favour Leicester City midfielder Adrien Silva

Leicester City midfielder Adrien Silva is in talks over a loan move to Ligue 1 Bordeaux.

The 29-year-old has been frozen out under Claude Puel and the player's father has been critical of the Leicester manager whose position is under consideration.

Leicester head of player recruitment, Eduardo Macia, is also poised to join Bordeaux

Silva has made just 19 appearances in all competitions since his controversial arrival from Portuguese club Sporting Lisbon.

The midfielder was initially prevented from registering for the club in August 2017 as his documents arrived 14 seconds after the deadline, so only officially joined in January.

I feel sorry for him, he's a player with great ability and seems to have a fantastic attitude. If we're not going to give him a chance then just let him go, his career has suffered enough in the past 18 months.

This is the essence of it for me.  Whatever anyone else (mainly the execs of both clubs involved in the botched transfer, I would argue) has done to deserve blame, none of this is really Silva's fault.  Write this off as a disaster for all concerned and let the poor guy continue his career elsewhere if it isn't going to happen with Leicester (for reasons I still don't wholly understand, as he seems to fill a desperate need no one else in the squad can fill).  Dragging it out reflects badly on the club, and it should.

That was a year ago though, he should have got his act together by now. Haven’t got as much sympathy for him as some here as he hasn’t performed much when given the opportunity. Many players have had to overcome 4 month injuries and have managed to get back to form in far less than a year. At least he should have been able to train and keep fit.

Shame Puel hasn’t given him more of a go though. It seems they must’ve fallen out.

This is a real puzzler, and of my biggest gripes with Puel.  Silva has a track record as a very good creative midfielder and not only is he not playing, we're getting no explanation as to why.

His performance in the cup game v Southampton partly explains it. He looked totally uninterested.

Doesn't stop other players being picked :dunno:

I hope we can hold on to him until Puel gets the sack. I genuinely feel under a different manager he would be one of the first names on the team sheet, he’s a different class and I’m gravely disappointed in the way he has been treated.

I often wonder whether if it is the manager and the system is holding him back. Would be interesting to see if he'd perform better under a different manager.

If he was a different class we'd have seen something from him when he has played, he's never stood out, never looked "different class", hasn't been amazing on the ball or even particularly accurate or creative. I'm not sure where the confidence has come from that he's so good?  He's performed in the same league Slimani looked like a god in, that's a warning to be cautious about lauding him too much.

Yeah, i'd go along with that but it wouldn't be the first time a change of manager suddenly unlocks a forgotten players talents. It's a pie in the sky belief though that Silva is guaranteed creativity here but it does baffle me how much he's ignored him this season given our problems breaking teams down.

This season though he has had 5 games one which he played about 8 minutes, one against United which you've said we looked good in, how can anyone stand out or look good in that time?

Nididi and Mendy have been bang average all season, Silva doesn't even make the bench.

Either its a problem between the two clubs regarding money or the manager hasn't given him a bats chance, if its Puel then its another reason why he should be sacked.

It's all well and good wanting a player gone, but we've shot ourselves in the foot giving the contract out. King, James, Benalouane, massive unwarrented deals. In this case Silva, I'll be amazed if someone buys him given he's contracted on big money until 2021 when he's 33. We've done another this week and this time next year fans on here will be wondering what on earth was going on. I can guarantee if we're still playing a 31/32 year old Marc Albrighton on the wing we won't be doing well in the league.

It's absoloutely staggering. And for people who are good businessmen, you'd think they'd look at this closer surely. The decision to give James a contract, never mind a 4-year deal (wasn't it!?) was always ludicrous.

Think Shakespeare had a massive hand in giving James the new contract off the back of his performances for Barnsley on loan.

I reckon he is finished as a pro, the decision to give him 4 years with his record of injuries is shocking.

Our own players said he was a different class. It was said when he first arrived that he was the best player some of them had seen.

Didn't Shakey say similar before he left.

I'm not saying he would fit or be right. But would be nice to see him in the three with Hamza and Ndidi.

So why has he shown literally nothing on the pitch? Soyuncu for instance has had spells of shitness, some awful mistakes. But at least he's had spells where you look at him and think, yeah he's got something about him. I honestly can't say I've seen that in Silva.

The manager seems to want players who can defend and attack, reality is Silva is not his signing and doesn't fit into that category. The links with these other CM's are far more in the area of what we'll be looking at. Strong CM, full of energy and running who can get stuck in whilst also start attacks and drive forward with the ball.

There must be something in this rumour that one more PL appearance means we pay a chunk of money. Also explains why we've been happy enough to use him in the cups.

I must admit though it does make it odd that he's made the bench I think for PL games?
