This seems a mistake unless someone is coming in ASAP, we'd be an injury away from a giant hole in the middle

i’d imagine we will have to get rid of a few first to mke way for one or two more..

Ultimately disappointing because I really really like Iborra, but think this is for the best. Remember watching him in some games live last year and he ran the show, Swansea away stands out.

But, doesn’t seem to be space for him in our midfield now and he does give the ball away an awful lot for someone with such good technical ability. Make room for someone else!

Good professional. Got his head down, hasn’t moaned and seems to have fit in to the group well. Hope he does well, I love Villarreal so will keep an eye out for him!

Mendy's return basically screwed Silva & Iborra. As has been pointed out, he is technically gifted, and I thought his height would be better utilised, but it'd be a poor reason to keep him around, he wants to play, and I don't blame him. He's been a professional despite his lack of game time too. I can only wish him the best and am sorry it didn't work out.

He isn't happy being a fringe player for us and I don't blame him. He came here after an unbelievable run of years at Sevilla. Yes, we'll have increased his wages but I imagine he would have expected to come to us and be an important player which sadly hasn't happened. He's got ability and it's a shame he's off but really it's no massive immediate blow to us. Central midfield needs rectifying and there's an argument we could do with replacing nearly every single one of them bar Choudhury and possibly Ndidi. The rest can bollocks really, even Mendy wouldn't be much of a loss.

Good move all round he is getting on now and needs to be playing at his age. It’s a shame it never worked out here he looked calm on the ball but probably to slow. Good look to him

Was absolutely outstanding in Puels first few games in charge but clearly doesn't quite fit here.

Not a flop, not a success. Seems a great bloke and everyone should wish him well.

A lot of this has to do with him wanting to move back to Spain rather than his gametime.

I think it was mentioned last year that he hadn’t really settled in the UK. I seem to recall in an interview he mentioned how he was surprised at how many players didn’t live in Leicester and didn’t hang out together

We let 3 strikers go that offered us alternatives without replacing and now look woefully exposed there.

Now looking at letting go the only midfielder that offers a positive attacking option + useful at set pieces.

The guy I believe is better than he has shown. Shame he wasn't given a run.

The players are not quite technically good enough to play the style Puel wants yet thats why a new CM is needed.

Please you know what style that is

Best of luck to him, won't play consistently here but with Silva and King almost certain to leave we'll start to look a bit lightweight in midfield. How far is Matty James from full fitness?

On another note, I hope to god we sign another striker as well. If we bring Barnes back & loan out Diabate we should be OK (at best) on the wings but we really could do with a couple of signings in Jan. Problem is that it's always an expensive time to delve into the market.

Disappointed to hear this. He's a very capable back up, and if we lose him we are very short of decent central midfield alternatives.

I understand why he would want to leave though - in Spain he'll be a starter. It's just perfect for his style of play.

Fair play to him for wanting to play many would just stay and see out the contract and massive wages he’ll no doubt be taking a cut to go back to spain

If I'm honest I expected more from him. But with Puels preference for 2 in midfield it was never going to suit him.

I do however know we can do better considering his total cost, and I expect Puel to find another gem.

We move on a Ulloa, who played 4 times in 2017/18, and 16 with 1 goal in 2016/17, Slim for played 12 times with 1 goal in 2017/18 and Musa who played 0 games for us in 2017/18.

While I agree it left us a little short for a couple of game, is it worth paying a season wages for those three players, short term pain, long term gain.

Maybe Iborra is better than he's shown but I get the feeling he has never settled here.

I always felt that he never really settled. He had a great career at Seville and seemed disappointed to leave, but the money on offer was too good for him to turn down with a young family and coming towards the twilight of his career.

I really liked him and thought he showed moments of real quality but I'm not sure his heart was ever really in it. Without being able to command a regular starting place, his LCFC career always came across as a bit of an uphill struggle.

If he does return to Spain, he does so with my best wishes. Seemed like a genuine bloke and a good pro.

Disappointed that no one has ignored the football and just banged on about what a good looking gentleman Iborra is.

Our team will become less handsome overall if he goes.

( Unless Andy King takes his “many faces” away at the same time.)
