AyewJoking Posted 7 February 2019 Posted 7 February 2019 Filbert street. Double decker. Early 90's. Peterborough. 2-0 loss.
whoareyaaa Posted 7 February 2019 Posted 7 February 2019 Can't even remember the first game would have been at Filbert Street in the early 90s possibly 91/92 had a season ticket for about 9 or 10 seasons there after some good and bad times.
irishfoxkev Posted 7 February 2019 Posted 7 February 2019 First visit Nov 30th 1966 a Wednesday night home to Man Utd...A family friend was taking his son and asked if me and my older brother could go. On the way to Leicester from Nuneaton the three of us made a pact that we would support whoever won. United won 2-1 with goals from Best and Law. Gibson scored for us. By a stroke of luck we couldn’t get into the game as 40000 were wedged into Filbert Street...If we had got in we would be Man Utd fans? Fortunately The following Sat Dec 3rd 1966 back we went and Leicester beat Stoke 4-2 with goals from Nish ( on his debut) Dougan,Sinclair and Rodriquez.....Haven’t looked back and as I hurtle towards my 64th next month still totally besotted and live for the next match. Sadly MUm and Dad decided to move to Ireland in 1971 so chances to get to matches fairly limited but do get to 2/3 every season ???
filbertway Posted 7 February 2019 Posted 7 February 2019 I'm impressed how well everyone remembers. I definitely don't remember mine. My earliest football memory I think is going to watch Leicester v Man U ressies at family night football.

I thought it was down the far end away from the massive kop end? Mind must be playing tricks with me but yes that was a great away day and loved sticking it to the Wolves fans (although possibly not much from me as I was only 9!) who were a weird bunch back then as well Always remember the open end and open air toilets which for a 10 year old was very strange the walk too and from the station was interesting as well,,,,
theadmans Posted 7 February 2019 Posted 7 February 2019 Leicester City v Birmingham City, 15 April 1978..... Leicester lost 1 - 4 (Fairly sure Trevor Francis scored) - amazing I went back really!
isaidno Posted 7 February 2019 Posted 7 February 2019 A 4-0 victory over Grimsby in 1992. Bobby Davidson and Phil Gee both scored twice.

I remember asking my dad what my first game was, he seems to think it was a home friendly against some European team in the early 90s. Apparently I was more interested in running up and down the row than watching the game haha.
Guest Col city fan Posted 7 February 2019 Posted 7 February 2019 One of the first games I can remember was against Liverpool when Andy Peake scores that ridiculous pile driver! Martyn Henderson scored that day too if my ailing memory is correct.
lcfc531mellors Posted 7 February 2019 Posted 7 February 2019 April 1971, a dour goalless draw against Sheffield United. Watched it from the Popular side with mates after travelling down from the steel city where I was at college.

(Dad was from Thurmaston and had been sent to Notts as a Bevin Boy during the war so it was natural to follow LCFC rather than Forest like most others in my class at school.) Mike Stringfellow had come from same mining town as me - and I had his hymn book one year at Grammar school. You had to list your name on the inside cover and kept the book for the year. Dad parked the Ford Pop on Filbert Street and we headed for the nearest turnstiles and I seem to remember queuing for about an hour and a half or more before they opened and ending up standing at Filbert Street end with all the Spurs supporters! Nice one dad! You could do that in those days of course. Stood more or less behind the goal and couldn't believe my hero Gordon Banks was just yards away. Remember Jimmy Greaves scoring just in front of us, and the look of delight on his face. What an array of talent for my first experience of Filbo. Happy memories! I remember this game very well, it was the first time I met up with Mrs Smudge. Pictures at the ABC in the evening and 56 years later we are still follow the city every week on TV and at the ground when there. She saw both Man City games at Christmas, I saw one ...........plastic !!

I thought id take a look at the Leicester team that night, couldn’t find any records of the 5:0 win against the “posh”... then realised it it was indeed Cambridge. (There near enough geographically)? I was 11 then, don’t remember too much about it, accept for being in the corner of the kop next to the old main stand.
Keyworth63 Posted 7 February 2019 Posted 7 February 2019 April 1963; Epic 4-3 win over Man Utd to go top of the league

Livid Posted 7 February 2019 Posted 7 February 2019 Honestly no idea first game would be somewhere around 1974. Mum and Dad were both STH's have vague memories of being left with my grandma on Saturday afternoons. Must have been around 5 or 6 when they started taking me with them.
Analysethis Posted 7 February 2019 Posted 7 February 2019 August 1989; 2-2 at home against Newcastle. Ive checked and 13,693 watched that game which looking back is surprising as it felt like Newcastle bought about 10,000 of there own LOL. I was in Penn 3 and there fans were next to us and the singing between both teams was so loud I was hooked. It was an amazing season of games for a first timer and standout games were coming back to beat Leeds 4-3 (who ended up winning the league), leading 4-2 at Newcastle before losing 5-4, winning 4-2 at Blackburn, getting stuffed 5-0 at Wolves and a memorable final game of the season where I think Sheffield United needed to win to get promoted and beat us 5-2. We were terrible in the first 10-12 games and I think were in the bottom three but a couple of loan signings including Kevin Campbell from Arsenal and we went on a great run.
CheeseHead Posted 7 February 2019 Posted 7 February 2019 1979 Watford at home, Alan Young's debut, won 2-0, he got both!
Farrington fox Posted 7 February 2019 Posted 7 February 2019 Oct 1971, v Huddersfield and won 2 - 0. The ole chap took me and we stood on the West stand terracing near the tunnel, I remember sitting on the wall. Pretty sure Shilts was in goal.
VLC86 Posted 7 February 2019 Posted 7 February 2019 I think mine was about 1992 and we beat Notts County 2-1.
thegaffer9 Posted 7 February 2019 Posted 7 February 2019 4th April 1998 Leicester 1-1 Coventry Sitting in the Double Decker, Stuart Wilson opened for Leicester before Noel Whelan equalised about 90secs later
