Sadly, he never does against any defensive teams any more. It was never his strength and now he's becoming an utter one trick pony, good at scoring only when the opposition centre backs are pushing towards the half way line.

We are so slow to come back to positions in defense. Always so easy to get caught with pants down on the break... After that corner our defenders were just casually jogging back instead of sprinting. The likes of Zaha doesn't do jogging

For nigh on 18 months we have had a manager that despite having an substantive improvement in the squad over his predecessor (Tielemans, Evans, Ricardo, Maddison) which now can win ‘the possession stats race’, can’t win football matches.

 

I said it in January 2018 it’s very very hard to win games with this possession style unless you have the very best / elite players, and so it’s proved.

 

Tactically he’s shit at getting his teams (see Southampton as well as us) to score enough goals, that win games; and that’s whatever the outcome this evening.
