Interesting take on things.......Rodgers has alot of work to do

we’ve dived into Leicester’s wage structure using figures provided by Spotrac and suggested that the club could save a staggering sum of money by trimming the squad.

End of an era

Wes Morgan, Christian Fuchs, Danny Simpson and Shinji Okazaki all have a special place in Leicester hearts for the roles they played in the title-winning campaign of 2015/16, but it’s important sentiment and nostalgia are cast aside as their contracts tick towards expiration.

All four players, earning £3.12m, £2.6m, £2.34m and £1.82m per year respectively, are tied down to deals which expire in June 2019.

Morgan is the only player of the four who still has enjoyed anything close to resembling regular opportunities so far this season, but at 35 years old it’s time he was released along with the aforementioned trio to pave the way for the next generation.

Those who aren’t warranting their wage

Rodgers should chop four central midfielders to free up more space on the wage budget. Adrien Silva, currently plying his trade on loan at Monaco, is one of the club’s top earners on £4.16m per year – equivalent to £80,000 per week.

The new boss may yet be inclined to help the Portuguese midfielder resurrect his career at the King Power Stadium, but his lackluster performances since joining the club hint that he should be on the transfer list when the window opens for business.

Andy King and Matty James, who earn £2.06m and £1.66m respectively, are both surplus to requirements and should be offloaded in a bid to stretch the wage budget.

Rachid Ghezzal, meanwhile, is simply below the standard which Leicester need to fulfill their ambitions. His departure would chop £2.34m from the annual wage bill.

Sell. Sell them all.

And Amartey, Mendy and Ndidi too whilst we are at it.

Morgan, Fuchs, Simpson and Shinji will be straight forward if that's what we want. Silva should be too and hopefully should get a reasonable fee for him seeing it's going so well at Monaco.

I think Andy King just wants to play football now, so just a matter of finding him the right option

The challenge for me will be Matty James who is definitely surplus to requirements and Slimani (who is going to want to touch him at the moment?)

Still reserving judgement on Ghezzal. I think he could be a really useful sub for making things happen later on in games when teams have parked the bus as he's able to pick out those intricate passes into the box and shoot from distance.

I personally feel thought that a lot of the hard work has already been done, and in terms of the players whose contracts end, it's just a matter of waving them off at the end of the season (bye Fuchs )

Yes, sell everybody and repalce them with dross from the SPL. Then see where we end up.

What this does suggest is that we cannot afford to dish out anymore crazy sentimental contracts.    A 3M quid 'pension top-up gift' could probably pay the salaries of the entire U23's for one year!

With the benefit of hindsight having a senior third choice keeper in Jakupovic on the books has been a complete waste of money  but could you ever gamble and have one of the others on the bench if Kasper picked up an injury?

That article is being kind.

On top of Simpson, Morgan, Fuchs, James, King, Silva, Ghezzal and Okazaki we have plenty of other average players we need to bin.

2019 window:

Hopefully we can get rid of Slimani and Kapustka. Loan out Diabate. Sell Mendy as he only has 1 year left on his contract.

2020 window:

Let’s be honest, if Gray and Iheanacho continue to be muck and Amartey continues to be average, then they need to go. Soyuncu out on loan if he continues to not get regular game time. He won’t want to stick around as 4th choice.

Also Jakupovic’s contract will be up at this point, but I wouldn’t be against him leaving this summer.

If nobody comes in for him in the summer, just buy out Matty James' contract and let him go.

It's harsh, but he has no future here, he's not good enough even when fit nowadays and we've basically paid for his treatment for the last three years. The fact he was given a new deal in 2017 is testament to the club's bonkers contract renewal policy.

I love the bloke and I can't blame him at all, but giving Matty James a contract like that when he was still injured (I think, or at least just coming out of injury with a dodgy record) is unbelievably poor management by the club.

Christ didn’t realise Jakupovic was still here thought we’d got rid . Another wasted wage

Despite a lot of players leaving this summer I hope we don’t bring in too many. I hope it’s quality over quantity this time round. The last few years have shown us that spending on players who don’t make the cut takes a long time to sort out.

Definitely a very important 12-24 months ahead of us both on and off the pitch.

No wonder we can't get rid of some of them the wages they are on.

I miss Shinji's infectious smile. I hope he scores once more before he goes :(

This goal also absolutely cannot hit the back of the net. It must be from about 3 yards, slightly mis-kicked.

I'd give Ghezzal another go as a sub/cup player next season. Fuchs and Okazaki must go. I think Morgan will be kept for another season and depending on Amartey, Simpson will probably be let go to.

It's finally time to give the title winners a send off and wave them off into the sunset.

Thanks for the memories guys, you will not be forgotten!

Preferably hits the post too, or bounces off another player’s shin then hits Shinji’s kneecap and just crosses the line.
