Should do away with these loyalty bonuses. Loyalty is almost non existent in modern football

Or you could just talk about them as 'disloyalty penalties'.

AFAICS whatever you call it, it's doing it's job in this case.

Hand in a transfer request all you like, the price is £80+ million. If its not met your arse is not leaving end of discussion.

Not necessarily, all depends on how the player reacts after he’s Handed a transfer request. I personally believe Harry has to much respect to the club to formally hand in a transfer request. Thinking about it though Harry has technically handed In a transfer request by informing BR of his intentions to go. He’s just not put it in writing out of respect to our club I would imagine.

I feel so relaxed about this its untrue. To me feels like a win, win, win...

1. The Man U fans are in meltdown and are like a school bully, years down the line when they realise that the kids have grown up and will not be pushed about. They are just left incomprehensible!

2. If Slabs goes, we get a world record fee for a defender, I dont think anyway could see that as bad business.. we've seen the guy week in, week out and he isnt faultless. A key member of the squad, yes, but not our best player in my opinion. With that cash, Rudders and Congleton will go and bring in some more quality.

3. The value is not met, and we keep the Lad until at least January,  where the supply and demand may be stretched further and a "big" club may need to pay even further over the odds, whilst our two young promising centre backs have another 6 months to bed in!!

So I guess my overall message is, sit back, enjoy the madness. Either way we are MASSIVE, and Man U are our play things!!

This has defiantly come from his agent Paul Stretford. He is well connected to United. I'm sure he was Rooneys agent when he told them he wanted to leave because of the ambition of the club, was all a ploy to get shrek a new contract with huge wages.

‘Maguire would be honoured to follow in Rio’s footsteps’ what a complete non story, jezzz. This transfer window must really be dragging for a lot of clubs out there!

You mean the same agent that got him to sign a 5 year contract with us at a time when he probably knew the big clubs would be after him this summer.

Yes. HM and his agent will have got a belting deal last summer. Take the money now and worry about next season, um, next season.

Do you reckon is the sort ot get frustrated and actually hand in a transfer request? (Whatever they are nowadays!)

I think a transfer request would be very much a last resort, especially if MUFC don't match our valuation.

Maybe we take 80 instead of 90 if HM puts in the request.

I don't think many sensible fans would object to that.

Yep, this.

No way imo that Harry is that bothered about losing his loyalty bonus. Yanited will likely cover his loss to get the deal done (and a transfer request will drop his fee a little anyway)

each week he remains our player costs him 170k in lost earnings ......

i suspect that harry doesn’t want a transfer request on his CV ....... it damages him a little from a PR perspective

Why do we get painted as the bad guys in these situations every ****ing time? Why is it such an abomination that we want to keep players who are under contract? I ****ing hate the media in this country they’re an absolute pile of Shit (not you Geoff you’re quite sound) - if this was Man United knocking Madrid back it would be “AH Ha! God save the Queen, keep your hands off our premier league players! He’s not for sale, rule Britannia, doesn’t it make you proud! Thank god Man U are saying no to the mighty Real Madrid! The super powers of world football have been told NO by the mighty Man U!”

Should just sign everyone on a one year rolling contract and be done with it lol

....players would be running down their contracts at the slightest whim!!!!

Believe it or not it protects both party. To go back into work tomorrow and ask to go on a rolling contract would see your job security and livelihood evaporate in a second.

Reading that twitter feed says the fee is agreed at 80m, the only delay is Harry playing hardball with his image rights.

If Harry really wanted to go he won't give a shit about a loyalty bonus. This is 100% his agent spreading rubbish like this to put pressure on the club but also attempt to turn fans against him. I think eventually Maguire will formally express desire to pursue options but only when he knows that is likely to happen. There is no way he risks handing in a transfer request and then not being sold.

Wouldn't it be hilarious if maguire tweeted out saying he nor anyone in his camp said it would be an honour to join United.

Has any player ever actually come out and publically denied a transfer rumour? Apart from Ndidi

I'm strangely relaxed about this one.

Full faith in the club that we won't allow ourselves to be bullied and fairly confident that Harry has too much respect for us to start acting like Mahrez at any point.

If he goes, we will receive a world record bid for a defender and should be able to strengthen 2 positions with the proceeds. If he stays, we go into the season with an excellent and settled back line. Win-win scenario.

It's amusing how many United fans seem to take nonsense clickbait articles as gospel, isn't it?

They're no different to us, people believe what they want to believe. If sky had reported that Maguire had a furious bust up with Top and BR because he doesn't want to leave whatever the price some of our fans would be all over it.

Bottom line is I think Man Utd have all their eggs in the Maguire basket and will get the deal done whatever the price. If it's true they have already had a £70m bid turned down then what's another £10-£15m? Maguire is a big upgrade on what they have and Man Utd aren't as appealing as they once were at the moment. They can't pick and choose which players they want anymore and Maguire is top drawer and available at the right price.

Leicester have their price, Maguire wants to go and Man Utd want Maguire. It will happen as I'm sure ManUtd will pay our asking price if it's the difference between getting the player and not getting him they just don't want to. When you're a club like Man Utd you need to be buying the best available and price is almost secondary. Maguire is the best CB in the world available to them.

I don't think they're allowed to, are they? something to do with betting.

He wouldn't need to publicly deny it, but if Maguire wanted to stay he could have killed all the stories by now by quietly telling Man Utd 'thanks, but no thanks'. The stories are persisting because he clearly hasn't done that.

Why would he do that ?  He could still  finish the window at Lcfc with a pay rise ..... he won’t if he says what you posted

btw, I don’t expect him to be here

Dunno, but when the bookies are involved in anything, it tends to go their way. If they'd took thousands of pounds in bets on him going to man utd and laid it off against him going man city to cover themselves, then all of a sudden he came out and said he was staying, i think they'd be a bit annoyed.
