It was a beautiful sunny day and The Birch's hair glowed like in an advert for Harmony hairspray.

(bored at work)
onekeithweller Posted 2 April 2019 Posted 2 April 2019 I didn't know we played on my birthday. Johnny Morris in a 1-1 draw at home to Rotherham, a result that had the fans moaning (according to Of Foxes & Fossils) despite the fact we were romping to a record breaking Division Two title! Some things never change. I'd never heard of Johnny Morris but, strangely, Animal Magic was first broadcast on my birthday five years later. I've always loved a talking chimp.
Tuna Posted 2 April 2019 Posted 2 April 2019 Alan Smith with a last minute winner at Villa Park in 84/85.
49er Posted 2 April 2019 Posted 2 April 2019 Bobby Roberts v Sheff Wed, two weeks after my birth (the matches in between were goal less)
Stoopid Posted 2 April 2019 Posted 2 April 2019 Gunner Rowley scoring away at Wolves apparently (we lost 2 -1 obviously) First I remember was the Doog (why is everyone booing, Dad?) in a 4 - 1 gubbing of Sunderland. About 65 I guess. As am I.
Wasyls Pec Deck Posted 2 April 2019 Posted 2 April 2019 I was born late May when football season is over, so had to wait until Alan Smith scores in a 1-1 draw with Luton Town at Filbert St on the opening day of the 86-87 season in August. Went on to finish 20th and go down that year (out of 22 teams, and only 2 points off a 19th who went into a relegation/promotion playoff).

Smith signed for Arsenal and came back to us on loan to help us beat the drop (but we didn't). Also, our average home league attendance was 11,697! Fewer than 7,500 people were at Filbert Street for the 4-1 win against QPR in March!
Jakemoore Posted 2 April 2019 Posted 2 April 2019 Mark Draper in a 1-1 draw away at Arsenal - cracking result that, especially considering we were relegated that season ?
The Horse's Mouth Posted 2 April 2019 Posted 2 April 2019 We drew 0-0 with Sunderland for the first game, Heskey scored in the second
isaidno Posted 2 April 2019 Posted 2 April 2019 Peter Eastoe. Only goal for us in just 5 appearances. Never heard of him.

Derek Hines scored the first City game I ever saw and Rowley put the ball in the net later that afternoon in 1952
fuchsntf Posted 2 April 2019 Posted 2 April 2019 Bury we won 2-0 1953/54 .DivII..DivII-Champions. I believe Rowley scored... Hines/Rowley....made a name for themselves through the "50s"
hejammy Posted 2 April 2019 Posted 2 April 2019 Steve Lynex - vs Villa 4th April 1981, home loss (2-4)

Guest Manini Posted 2 April 2019 Posted 2 April 2019 Whoever scored the 1st goal of the 1995/96 campaign? If somebody could educate me I’d be very grateful.

Steve Corica away to Sunderland. Remember listening on Radio Leicester and had no idea who he was. Didn't realise we'd signed him the day before.
