Shinji Okazaki announces he is leaving Leicester City and explains why

One of my all time favourite players. Worked His socks off, every single game he played. It still amazes me that people didn't value his link up play with Vardy. Vardy even said an interview he was in his top 5 lcfc players.

The season after the title, we were crying out for him to start instead of the rubbish we bought in Slimani and Musa. Like what some of the previous comments said, he wasn't a goal scorer, he was the one to disrupt the opposition and get in there faces. I think his energy rubbed off on players around him to.

Definitely one of my most favorite city players ever. Humble man, workhorse player. Goals may not have come but his tough work wont be forgotten.  Going to miss him around but he needs to move on to enjoy the few years left playing football.

I think he could do well on a promoted side or even up on Rangers (fck celtic). Heck, come to TFC!

All the best Shinji

Whether he played 1minute or 90,, whether he was in form or playing crap you would always get 110% effort from him. :appl:

His selfless attitude and work ethic makes him a true professional and clubman. A worthy addition to the legends roll call for me.

:worship:

Thanks for the smiles and memories Shinji

Players like Shinji are the reason we won the title. Unselfish, never say die attitude.

Thank you for the memories.

Some top notch u-turns

No 1ever has a bad word to say about him.

(if his not playing and we are winning)

Different story when selected and we lost.

A key component in the title winning season, but offered very little in the years that follow.

His commitment could never be questioned.

Interestingly, what we hold fond of of Okazaki isn't something he is overly keen on. He has never enjoyed playing the link up role, he has said so many times to the press in Japan, which he also reiterates in his reasoning for leaving. He's been an ultimate team player who is the only title winner from our core XI not to have gotten a new contract and with it a pay rise or at least some monetary bonus for what he helped achieve. I know he will have been lavished with expensive gifts from our owners such as the cars and watches etc but it does seem a shame he didn't get what the rest did when he made many sacrifices to help make us so difficult to deal with as a team.

I wish him all the best in his final part of his career, would be good to see him go elsewhere and find the net on a regular basis.

Nothing to do with us not giving him a contract? :D

Epitomised everything that we were about as a team in the Title winning season, relentless running, pressing, teamwork, never give up and all with a smile.

Brilliant.

Absolutely. I think Shinji will really enjoy the MLS and probably could do a good job for some team there.

Will always remember Claudio's comment when asked early in the title season if Krameric was injured and he replied to the effect  "No we are a better side with Okazaki in it"  Sentiments that I totally agreed with.  Unfairly pushed aside for the total rubbish that was Slimani for a while but we always looked a better side for having his energy on the pitch.

I have never been one of his critics and genuinely believe that his contribution was absolutely massive and pivotal in THAT season.  How many other players put so much energy into a game, especially when being played in an unfamiliar role, that they have to come off after 60-70 minutes because they are completely knackered having given everything they have got.  Lesser men would have spat out their dummies but Shinji just smiled his way through.

Hope he gets at least a cameo role against Chelsea so that he can get a proper send off. I think that the roof will be raised and a few tears possibly shed.  God bless and good luck wherever you go Shinji san.

My son is obsessed with the guy and obviously I’m pretty fond of him myself.  He asked Santa for a Japan shirt this year (which cost Santa a fortune).

I’ve been preparing him for Shinji leaving for a while.  My son is only 5 and we waited after the Newcastle away game for Shinji. He was a distance away from us, a good 50 metres and hadn’t heard us screaming his name.  Anyway about 5 minutes after getting on the coach, it turns out a security guard had told him of my son and I trying to see him, so off he got and came bounding over with his trademark smile and had a few photos with us.  For my son (and me) it was one of those moments when you meet a hero and they’re everything you want them to be, plus a bit more!

So now,for this weekend let's give Shinji  the strikers role, and Vardy the midfield link role........triangle Barnes/Shinji/Vardy

We would kill & Bamboozle Man.city this weekend.....

Loved the Man..big big thanks, you gave your all and  plus that extra 10% ....no fan could ask for more..!!

Those sublime twists of subs..Ulloa-Shinji....Shinji-Ulloa, better than British rail, one could set the time by them..!!

See you Shinji, hope you find someone that can really utilize your main skills....the inability to stand up on a perfect pitch and an outstanding range of facial expressions. Seriously though, thanks for some great memories and wish you the best of luck for the future.

A got a copy of Shinji's book about our title win.  I can't read it but I got someone Japanese to read it for me and then tell me about it.

The main message that comes across was his frustration with having to play the in the deep-lying position, but that he was willing to sacrifice his personal preferences for the benefit of the team.  It's also clear that Gokhan Inler was important for Shinji, helping him to settle, and was his best friend in the squad.

Good luck to Shinji.  One of my favourite players ever and, whilst not technically one of the best players in out 2015-16 team, was the one that seemed most to encapsulate the spirit of it.

If you don't get goals or assits you don't make the headlines.

If we didn't have Shinji we wouldn't have won the league.

He will be passed down in bedtime stories and will never be forgotten. Simple really. - He'll go down in Leicester City folklore.

If he didn't make the headlines will he make the bedtime stories?

Or is the plan to bore the kid to sleep with a detailed analysis of Shinji's work rate in the final third using heat maps? I like it
