Fantastic workrate, energy, positive attitude, humble personality.

His interactions with Christian Fuchs will never be forgotten.

lol

Just a shame his form on the pitch in terms of scoring ability has declined so rapidly in the past year or so.

All the best for the future, Shinji-san! I suppose you're heading back to Japan, eh?

Going from being a main striker his whole career to a midfield link up player must have been incredibly difficult. How much of a sacrifice he has made for our club should never be forgotten. True professional, the likes of which we won't see again.

Will always be welcomed back to the game here. Can totally understand his motivations for moving on, and he'll always be remembered for being one of the legends.

Just an all round nice guy too. Wish there were more like him in the modern game!

Time for a GIF overload!!!

Did his job, no matter how ungrateful for a striker, always at 100% and with a smile. Never complained and should've got a pay rise after the title win.

A true pro, always putting the team first. Wish you all the best, legend, and may you find the club that fulfills your wish.

i’ll miss him. he’s iconic.

He’s everything i loved about the title winning season.

I hope you get the best love possible shinji and you enjoy the next few years!

If I'm being brutally honest, Shinji's best two games for Leicester were his first two - v Sunderland and West Ham. Thought he would be a sensation after those brilliant performances, so in one respect he turned out to be something of a disappointment, especially in terms of his lack of goals.

But overriding everything - and the reason he is so popular - was his work rate, enthusiasm and tactical importance to our title-winning side, and for that he will forever be a Leicester City legend.

Definitely time for him to go though.

Desperately want to see him get some time in that final match with Chelsea.  No excuses not to get him on the pitch, especially if Europe isn't on the line (as it almost surely won't be).

There are about 10 million reasons for him not to get game time at the minute.

I will always remember his Goals and contribution when really needed during Vardys injury spell.

I never new a player spend so long on the ground during a match.

He was a good pro.

This was on my birthday. I’d had a a great dinner with all my flat mates, then brought two or three of them to meet the Cape Town Foxes for the first time to watch this. Shinji scores with an overhead, and I fell off my chair celebrating. I managed to endear myself even more to my new flat mates, who knew nothing about football. Two of which started to understand what it meant to me even more and then came to more games. One of them is now a full on Leicester supporter and sent me a snapchat of her watching the Arsenal match the other day in Switzerland!

This was honestly my favourite birthday for about a year. Then Sevilla happened.

I will love Shinji forever. That smile!

Hero.

Always remember his first season. His ability to link up play and how he worked so well with Vardy.

I'll always like Shinji.

It is the right reason to let him go now though. Good memories Shinji.

Another one of the unbelieveables departs. It's the right decision, we've moved on.

Scored some of the most important scuffed shots in our history. lol

When I think of Shinj, I always think of this...

I think of this (although I heard a rumour that his goal in the game at home was better)

The reality is the team has evolved beyond Shinji. He'll never get the main striking birth ahead of Vardy and as he says in his interview he hasn't got the technical ability of an attacking midfielder in the mould of Maddison/Tielemans.

Shinji is a legend. I hope he gets everything he wants from the remainder of his career and more. Favourite Okazaki goal was the one away at Everton, the away end went off as it was so soon after Mahrez's penalty.

his workrate was phenomenal and he always played with a smile on his face and was an excellent team player and always gave his very best. let's be honest he didn't score enough goals but was certainly a cult figure at the club. he will always be a legend here for his contribution to the title winning team.

His song will be forever sung in our household. It's one of those where I suddenly realise I am singing it without even thinking about it. Anyone else have that issue...? I also do the same with the Jim'll Fix It theme tune which is rather unfortunate.

Same. For the Shinji one...  apart from when I took my girlfriend to her first game, she didn't hear his first name, so made one up... she sings a variation of it at different times now when making tea....

Ground staff should cut his grinning face into the centre circle for the Chelsea game and to hell with any FA fine we might get.

You kind of get what he's saying, it's a peculiar role he became known for here. People always talk about the title winning season being 4-4-2 but it was more like 4-2-3-1 with him dropping back to huarang the opposition midfield & defence - more or less a 4-3-3-1 when Kante was playing too.

Who couldn't miss this?

If out of the title winning team, Morgan, Fuchs, Schemichel, Simpson, Drinkwater, Albrighton, Vardy, Mahrez, Ulloa and Andy King all got new deals as a reward then why in gods name didn't Shinji? I feel like he has been shat on because he's the kind of bloke to just get on with it and not moan.

That bicycle kick against Newcastle was the stuff of legends.

He'll never be forgotten.
