Norwich,Sheffield Utd &Villa or Derby

Sheffield United are pretty solid in midfield and defence so I don't think they'll ship goals like Fulham. They'll need to strengthen up front, their strikers lack pace and that bit of magic that wins prem matches.  Might stay up.

Norwich are a bit more balanced but maybe that just means they're a bit weak in all departments. I think they'll struggle.

Villa would probably spend a fortune if they come up so who knows...

Derby would probably break their own record and sack Lampard by December.

We've had this thread a while ago. I think it's agreed the answer to your question is "not villa".

Says a lot about how ****ing irrelevant over the years Derby have become that Leicester fans would prefer to see them get promoted over ****ing Villa lol lol

I think most of us would still rather they didn't

It's been a very long time since all three promoted sides went down. For the first time in a few seasons there's not loads of completely shit sides lucky to avoid relegation. Brighton were absolute smeg last year but I think that was Hughton playing with the handbrake on and there's a fair bit of talent in that side so you'd expect them to improve. Hassenhuttl will have Southampton comfortably mid table leaving Burnley to hopefully go down at last. I think Norwich will drop, Sheff United might stay up and I think if Villa win in the play offs they'd stay up to but it's still early and hugely dependent on what they have to spend and who they bring in.

Ideally at least two out of Bournemouth, Burnley, Brighton and Palace drop. They've all had protracted stays and personally I dislike them all.

I really like the way Norwich play but fear they’ll need to change style for the prem or they’ll be shipping goals for fun. Haven’t really seen enough of Sheffield to have an opinion, Villa and Derby would probably go straight back down imo

Sheffield United will do exactly as Fulham have this season, huff and puff and at times play some good football, however, unless they spend big they’ll drop.

Norwich will be better than many give them credit for and as it stands without improving they are a better side than Sheffield United, Brighton and Bournemouth so could stay up but it’ll be tight.

I think Villa will beat Derby and with their facilities would attract better players than the other bottom 6 sides, if they come up they’ll stay up comfortably.

When Brighton and Huddersfield stayed up for two years, no disrespect but with their respective squads nobody gave them a chance, anything can happen.

It's not like it was 15/20 years ago.

A decent enough manager can keep a side like Norwich up nowadays.

If Villa come up they have the history, ground and fanbase to attract half decent players.

It's not a given for me that we have a right to talk down on sides that could be in a scrap for relegation. Palace are currently 13-1 up on us on aggregate in the last 2 seasons and we beat Bournemouth for the first time in the Premier recently. We need to strengthen especially offensively to make sure we can compete for Europe/cups.

More interesting to me are the teams that missed out on promotion and those going down. Can we find a couple of players for our squad. Che Evans for a start. Anyone else worth poaching?

Villa have the backing so may do ok. That’s the reason I hope Derby beat them.

The rest i’m not sure on. None have looked anywhere near as good as Wolves did last year. They say the gap is narrowing but a few years of picking up £100 million plus gives anyone an advantage.

Haven't watched much of Sheff United so not sure.

Norwich look like a balanced side and wil probably do okay.

Villa have the facilities and backing to attract decent players so will probably stay up.

Derby are the weakest of the lot. They will probably go straight back down.

Prefer Derby over Villa to come up.

I live with a Sheffield United fan so I've watched quite a lot of their games this season. They're fairly solid defensively with one of the midfielders sitting back when one of the centre backs overlaps, however this could leave them exposed in the Premier league. They'll need another striker as Sharps legs have gone and I don't think Mcgoldrick can cut it at this level. Will probably need some more reinforcements in defence and midfield too. If they sign the right players they can stay up. I'd also look out for Jack o'Connell who is a real talent and could feature for England if he has a good season (suggestions he may get better than Maguire)

Just grateful Leeds didn't make it.

I think it will be much closer than this season and don't see any of them doing as badly as Huddersfield and Fulham. The competiton from 7th to 20th will be much tighter and probably leave the top 6 even further away.

I’ve not seen much of Sheff Utd but I can’t see the 3 coming up - whoever wins the playoffs - being as poor as the 3 that went down this season. Burnley, Brighton, possibly Bournemouth, Newcastle and Palace if they lose Zaha could have a bit of a battle on their hands to stay up. Add that to Utd being in turmoil, Chelsea possibly losing Hazard and having a transfer ban and Arsenal still very hit and miss this could be the most interesting season for years ( not counting 15/16??)

Norwich could surprise a few.

Sheffield United I think will be spirited like Cardiff but will suffer the same fate.

Villa would stay up.

Derby no chance.

Fulham spent nearly £100 million pounds and they were still the 2nd worse team in the league.

Sometimes spending a lot of money doesn’t work, look at us in the 14/15 season we spent relatively big on a forward and then getting Huth in January was the turning point.

sheffield united will be atrocious. norwich will not be much better.

and it’s a tough one for the play off winner. both teams literally have a first 11 full of loanees, they’re both completely fu cked if they don’t sign a decent chunk of them. which in derby’s case, especially, they won’t be able to.
