MonkeyTennis? Posted 19 June 2019 Posted 19 June 2019 Well, the great thing about Hamza is that he always makes a massive impact when he plays. And last night was no exception! (Seriously, I do feel for the lad. It was a stupid, reckless tackle, but the key weapon in his arsenal is bold, ambitious tackles, and what's usually amazing, at least last season, is how precise his judgement has become. He flies over, gets the ball and leaves other players gasping but uninjured. This time he got it totally wrong, but when you play like he does, I guess that's sometimes inevitable. Sad for him it was on such a big strage, and sad for the French lad 'cause it looked f_cking horrible.)
katieakita Posted 19 June 2019 Posted 19 June 2019 Poor challenge but what is more worrying is a red card after a VAR referral. If you are going down that route you can probably find 1 or 2 red cards a game

With the way Hamza tackles he’s either got to get it right every time or sadly face the consequences. Thought he was class all night as well until that.

I know him and Gray swapped but it's the first time I've ever seen him used as an inverted winger. He's always struck me as a posh Jeff Schlupp but I do think there's a real talent in there and after a very mediocre first season in the Prem his stock and price has dropped slightly, could he be worth a look from us? £30-40m would get him and adds to the ridiculous amount of young talented English players we have. His season wasn't that poor when you consider 6 assists for a relegated team.

I suppose not, he's a player that does have end product but he didn't perform like everyone expected. He didn't ever look that good but still got 6 assists and 3 goals, a bit like Tielemans at Monaco last season. He was supposedly abysmal yet in 19 starts he scored 5 league goals. When players still create or score goals whilst supposedly not excelling it shows how dangerous they can be.
coolhandfox Posted 19 June 2019 Posted 19 June 2019 With Hamza, you have to take the rough with the smooth, his going to win a lot of balls, with brilliant tackles. However occasionally his going to going to make a mistake and get booked or sent off. Personally I rather he learns form his mistake playing for the u21's, than us.

UniFox21 Posted 19 June 2019 Author Posted 19 June 2019 What did come out of yesterdays game; was that Gray needs to be dragged aside and work on his finishing. He has the talent to take on and beat a Man, but is inconsistent with his finishing. Arguably the easier of the two to teach. After foden he was basically our most attacking option. He has the talent, just needs focus on the areas he needs to improve on

Personally, I think we give Brendan a shot at it but if he can't cut the mustard move him on and replace in January.

Unfortunately, it's becoming obvious that Gray can't hit the broadside of a barn with a handful of dung, and I doubt any specialist training will make much difference. You're either a natural finisher or you're not.

Hopprble horrible tackle. All the best to the other kid. I'm not defending him from the tackle as it was reckless but I get why it happened - I just don't think he's the biggest villain of the night. He's not the main reason we lost that. Boothroyd's subs baffled me at the time and even more so now. What was he thinking?

You're either a natural finisher or you're not. Funny how Shakespeare thinks Gray's finishing is strong but that his crossing and passing in the final third are what needs hugely improving. For me, all of that is almost the same thing. It's rare you get a phenomenal finisher who seems to be poor at passing or crossing. In all 3 areas you need to be able to put the ball to a specific target, Gray should purposely try and aim somewhere else and he might start scoring and assisting.

I genuinely think it will take a handful of decent games for him to kick on. 9 minutes ago, Countryfox said: How long have we been saying that ... when will it come to the point that we sell and get someone else in that can do that already .... he is sooooo frustrating ! Still time for him to get more experience and improve.

'It wasn't malicious and I didn't want to hurt him whatsoever. I saw the ball and tried to take it but I mistimed it. 'I don't think I have ever felt worse in my footballing career so far than I do right now. I understand playing at this level comes with a certain pressure. 'I have let the lads down and I have let the country down. I just want to get that message out there and really apologise.' You gotta feel super sad for him
les-tah Posted 19 June 2019 Posted 19 June 2019 Hamza was excellent until he got sent off. You have to expect that from him unfortunately he is an absolute ruthless tackler. He will learn from this.. But my god if i was in center mid for an opposition playing against him id be petrified.

Looks a strong player with ability. Can play LB as well so ability to cover for Chilwell if needed. A good one for the future if they could sign him for ~30mill. Maybe send them a James or King as part of the deal He’s going to spurs I believe .... will take some time for levy to low ball Kahn ....

Probably to deter from the woeful own goal from Wan-Bissaka, rather make a scapegoat out of someone else, you’d think AWB was Dani Alves the way they talk about him on there. Woeful from Sky. Gave him a 3 and said he gave the ball away all match. In reality he spent all game cleaning up the shit passing that was the England CBs and Wan Bissaka, who they gave a 5 just because he's flavour of the month.
