Arsenal sign Tierney, £20m up front, a further £5m in instalments, £1m payments for every season they make the champions league for length of his contract (so feck all) and 15% sell on.

😥

So all the he’s a Celtic lad through and through... he won’t leave... was complete rubbish. He’s jumped at the chance of joining for a poor Arsenal side.

Just shows how much influence money has. Loyalty in football is DEAD

Celtic fans are so delusional. Nobody outside of the fans cares about 10 in a row, not the managers, not the players. They aren’t turning down tens of millions of pounds to throw another couple of medals on a draw for winning a one team league.

No offence to the guys on here who actually have their heads screwed on.

It’s not as black and white as that tbh, agree like any support there are your moon howler element but most of the sensible fan’s angst is that we’ve pulled in almost £80m in fees over the course of 18 months and we are trying to replace guys we’ve sold for £20m with £2-3m players and that we’re not reinvesting the money brought in.

But surely the reality is there’s not the money in the Scottish Leagues to make astronomical bids?

Celtic regularly need sales to balance books i understand?

And there’s no way they could compete with the wages being offered South of the border?

How good is he going to be in England in your humble opinion?

Think he’ll more than hold his own, has all the attributes suited to the EPL, strong, fast, equally as good going forward as defensively. Been injured for the best part of 9 months though so may take him a while to get up to speed.

We don’t expect astronomical bids, we signed Eduoard for £9m last summer so that’s the sort of bids we’re expecting, not continually trying to turn £2-3m players into £20m ones. The whole point in our model is that from sales we can reinvest and sign a better quality of player.

As said we have brought in £80m in eighteen months in fees, our last accounts had £50m sitting in the bank, add £25m for tierney to that and potentially another £30m if we make the champions league. We make a profit every single season it seems and with £50m sitting in the bank we certainly don’t need to sell players to balance the books.

All the fans expect is for the majority of the money we reinvest to be reinvested in the team which isn’t happening.

Again no one is expecting us nor would we want to compete with the wages on offer south of the border, we shop in an entirely different market and an entirely different level from EPL clubs.

Completely understandable.

You don't expect to chuck stupid wages or transfer fees around, but just showing that the money you're bringing in is being reinvested rather than used to sit in an account or lining a pocket.

David Luiz for £8m is a steal. He's been central in two title wins for Chelsea, and good on the ball. Arsenal actually done well here if it goes through.

I was hoping Arsenal were one of the teams we could overtake this season but they have signed well and still have a very good Manager.

I think breaking the top 6 will be incredibly hard again this coming season and can see a gap again unfortunately to those big 6

Re the inflated market, when we received the Mahrez money I called for us to offer 85-90% of it for Zaha based on their comparative effectiveness. Now what they did instead was far wiser, Maddison, Ricardo, Evans and co but my point is if Zaha's value is supposedly 80-95 million now and I don't think he particularly kicked on a level in those 12 months then what does that make the inflation, around 35%? . Although he's had an in and out season I'd still put Mahrez ahead of him so what is he now, £110-£120 million? Harry seemed to go from 55-60 millio last summer to 80-85 this. If Soyuncu does go on to be a first teamer our business of last summer should go down as phenomenally good, Maddison and Ricardo in particular.

What would you say this year on year inflation has been in % terms?
