That’s fair although a shame to end the window with all that money burning a hole in your pocket when there are some better players out there ....

 

next summer we will also hopefully have the draw of the training ground - trick will be to hang onto the stars we still have !!

Is that because other clubs look at us now and are going "Hey... Maguire money"

we are all assuming that the signings we made had already been budgeted for pre the sale of Maguire. Perhaps we were actually counting on it to fund those purchases though and there is no more in the kitty. Unlikely but we are already committed to the training ground and possible stadium expansion so we cannot just go spending £100M's willy nilly without getting some cash back in

We must remember Tielemans wasn't ours until now, you can easily think of it as half a signing, a continuation of his stay, etc but no, he was a bonus loan signing when he first came with the uninvolved Silva going the other way, we've had to find the money and ongoing salary package for him and added to Praet, Perez and Justin makes four rock solid useful signings to affect the first 18 week in week out and lost two or three (Harry and Shinji and to a degree Simpson). It's very hard to better what we have in the first team but with others spending and improving you wonder have we done enough? Maybe another winger hasn't been a priority so it's just that CB area, the fact that the club asked about Tarkovski and Dunk suggests making Soyuncu step up was not plan "A". 

At this stage it looks unlikely, we're undeniably weaker at CB but stronger elsewhere, I'd be happier with another CB coming in and had hopes of a Zaha too but the real success is keeping the majority of our existing talents here.

 

We'll see if any go abroad now before totalling up the numerical balance but of Mendy, Silva, Slimani, Kaputska and Diabate we'd probably be left one DM short if they all go.

S**t it's almost that time when that Ryan Swansong bloke comes on and explains the Deal Sheet as if he's speaking to a hard of hearing, foreign pensioner..."Deal sheet....you fill it in....name.....clubs....fee...." and we still haven't got a CB. I wouldn't mind if we'd never looked at one but the fact we did and didn't get one, oh hang on here he comes, patronising t**t

Hopefully Ashley and LinekerApples can give us some insight into what was going on to suggest that there may have been a lot of exciting activity today.

 

Obviously hasn't come close to those predictions but I do think there was reason for them to suggest as such and so curious to know how/why this didn't come to fruition

To another club, who paid the asking price they were given. Doesn't mean that they didn't quote us a premium. 

It's all guess work, but I'm not currently bothered by the sheer fact I'm not panicking excessively because we didn't sign every single available player in the window.

Watford not exactly peasants though are they..TV money plus Richarlison 35m last year

And we've already spunked out about  100m ourselves so far.

30 Perez, 40 Tilly, 10 Justin and possibly 20 for Praet. 

Maybe there's just a limit in how much we'd actually like to spend.
