davieG Posted 29 November 2019 Posted 29 November 2019 Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers comments on links to Arsenal job after Unai Emery sacking “I’m so happy here. Every part of my life, my footballing life, I’ve always enjoyed working with the players that I have and none more so than these guys. They’ve been brilliant since I came in. For me as a coach, that relationship is so important. “I’m getting great joy in seeing what we do on the training field bring into the games. We’re 13 games in and I’m really enjoying the progression. We still have a lot of work to do and I hope I’ll be here to see that through.” Full Report From the Merc - https://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/leicester-city-manager-brendan-rodgers-3593235 Leicester City are at “the beginning of something exciting” and Brendan Rodgers is not going to give that up for Arsenal. A week after he was linked to the Tottenham job, Rodgers is again being mentioned as a possible option for the vacant managerial role at the Gunners, who sacked Unai Emery on Friday. But Rodgers reiterated his commitment to City and the project at the King Power Stadium. “I think exactly the same as I always have done: it’s something that naturally happens,” Rodgers said when asked about links to the Emirates Stadium. “When you’re doing ok, people want to take you away from something that you really enjoy. If you’re not linked then it doesn’t matter. “It’s always the case, whenever jobs come up, there’s always a number of names. “I’ve said a number of times that we’re at the beginning of something here. I’ve absolutely loved every minute since I came here and have a good relationship with the people that run the club. My relationship with the players is really strong and it feels as if we’re beginning something really exciting. “This is a game where there is so much gossip and speculation around many things and obviously people’s roles and people’s jobs are one of them. I’m experienced enough now to take it with a pinch of salt. “It’s a sign that we’re working well, but that’s all it is. That’s just how the game works. Even when you’re in a job, I’m sure at some point in time when it doesn’t go as well for me here, there’ll be four, five, six managers linked with the job. “I’m very happy. I know when I left Celtic it was tough and it seemed fairly quick, but I think if you trace my career, apart from when I got the sack at Reading, I was in a job for at least a few years. “I came to Leicester with a purpose and the reason was that I felt I could help the club develop and grow and take on that responsibility that the ownership had given me. “I’m so happy here. We still have a lot of work to do and I hope I’ll be here to see that through.” As he did for Mauricio Pochettino a week earlier, Rodgers expressed sympathy for Emery. “It’s a disappointment whenever any manager loses their job,” he said. “I think he’s proven himself Unai over a number of years that he’s a gifted and talented coach and sometimes it doesn’t work out. “I feel for him and have empathy for him, like I do when any manager loses their job. “It’s a fantastic club, Arsenal, one of the great clubs in this country. I’m sure the people at Arsenal, if they’re moving Unai on, they have an idea of who they want to bring in.”
Corky Posted 29 November 2019 Posted 29 November 2019 Has he been officially linked or is it just a few ex-Arsenal players from 30 years ago polluting the media with the same view?

I can't see it though, Emery was under performing but even firing on all cylinders that team is far too easy to score past to compete at the level it wants too and it'd take a lot of work time and money to get that sorted out and it's not exactly the most patient of fan bases. If he can carry on doing what he is doing here for a year or two he can get himself a much lesser assignment at a top club than the one that is currently required at the Emirates.
bovril Posted 29 November 2019 Posted 29 November 2019 I can't see him going to Arsenal. The Man United job worries me more though.
Farrington fox Posted 29 November 2019 Posted 29 November 2019 Poch is available, surely he’ll be Arsenal’s first go to.
Master Fox Posted 29 November 2019 Posted 29 November 2019 He won't won't go to Arsenal. Once Ole gets sacked then Poch will go United. Liverpool and Man City won't part ways with their managers. That means we're probably good for another 2-3 years until the next cycle of sackings comes around.
crisp packet Posted 29 November 2019 Posted 29 November 2019 Funny thing is not read , that quote in bold anywhere else other than the mercury? Going no where!!

He won't go to Arsenal, because if he jumps ship so soon at LCFC his reputation would be shattered, He knows after Celtic he needs to achieve something quite special here and if it all goes to plan, then he would probably be wanted by a major European club

It probably doesn't fit the narrative of all the other media sites/rags. It would spoil their clickbait headlines
Izzy Posted 29 November 2019 Posted 29 November 2019 "I’m so happy here. Every part of my life, my footballing life, I’ve always enjoyed working with the players that I have and none more so than these guys" (Brendan Rodgers - Nov 2019) "I’m loving my life up here. I’m not going to be here forever, but I’m living in a dream" (Brendan Rodgers - 2 weeks before he left Celtic)
surrifox Posted 29 November 2019 Posted 29 November 2019 him staying also surely sends a great message to the players to commit to the club to see what can be achieved
Crazy Kop Corner Posted 29 November 2019 Posted 29 November 2019 He's not going anywhere at the moment - He's loving it as much as we are
Fox92 Posted 29 November 2019 Posted 29 November 2019 He won't go anywhere at the minute. I'll worry in a years time, even more so if we've done well this season in the league and at least one of the cup competitions.
January47 Posted 29 November 2019 Posted 29 November 2019 Thing is though if he goes to Arsenal with the resources they have, within a couple of years he may be able to develop a young capable of challenging for the top four and getting into the champions league. Oh hang on a minute
Izzy Posted 29 November 2019 Posted 29 November 2019 “OK, the timing wasn’t ideal for many people but I felt the club was in a really good place, the players’ mentality, everything around the club was healthy. “But, because of how quickly it happened, it was probably difficult for some people to accept. But we’ve both moved on since then. Celtic moved on and won the treble which was brilliant. Three trebles consecutively which is incredible. “And I was able to come into Leicester and assess players while they were under pressure because that’s when you can really make judgements. I felt it would give me those last 10 or 11 games of the season to assess what Leicester had and what needed to be done. “It gave me the time to prepare for the summer so that we were ready to make a challenge at the start of this season. I think it’s worked out well for both parties.” Brendan Rodgers - Leicester Manager November 2019 “OK, the timing wasn’t ideal for many people but I felt the club was in a really good place, the players’ mentality, everything around the club was healthy. “But, because of how quickly it happened, it was probably difficult for some people to accept.
