So, how is everyone doing after about a week into this thing (more for a lot of people I appreciate)?

I’ve not driven my car for a week which I suppose is good and now and I’m starting to put some lego Star Wars pieces together, I’m 47!

I keep buying unnecessary crap.... I bought a Nintendo switch, and I don’t even know why!

I’ve got a lot of bits done around the house, just finding the evenings difficult when I would usually go out and see friends and family. Living alone can be quite lonely, especially during these times. Although I have done 2 online quizzes which have helped to pass the time and boredom.

Was this study from ‘imperial typewriter buildings, Leicester’?

without huge widespread testing (which we don’t have the capability to undertake), the only way we keep below 7k is to strengthen the lockdown and once on top of the thing, keep on testing 500,000 daily to make sure that any renewed outbreaks don’t spread.

My biggest challenge is actually doing my job whilst not massively neglecting my children.  Apart from that, pretty good.

My friend did a virtual quiz using Zoom last night, which worked brilliantly well (not the circumstances I would've expected to be connecting with new people) we got a curry delivered and I had the nicest Saturday night I've had in ages

Currently sleeping on my sister's couch. Had a night here, which is rare as she doesn't let anyone in on a normal day.

Funny how helping her out during this time has brought us closer together.

I did a quiz on zoom last night as well, went really well and hope to do more. Someone should do a FT one.

I managed an 11 mile bike ride yesterday to Leire and back. Also trying to learn basic Spanish on Duolingo, thanks to whoever recommended that.

Trying to resist buying the latest Call Of Duty as I’d end up spending my whole time on that!

And it completely negates what they said before about there being a guaranteed second wave if we lock it down. IMO 7000 is a joke, there’s no way it would stay that low even with an actual lockdown (which this certainly isn’t) starting right now. It just doesn’t make mathematical sense or tie in with what we’ve seen in Italy which has better healthcare than here or Spain, which doesn’t.

The battle royale is free and is probably the best thing on the game, not to make avoiding it more difficult or anything

This weekend I've started to miss the void of having some sport to watch. I have plenty of jobs I could do but struggling to find the motivation  even though I have nothing else to do. Hard work having my 3 year old all day everyday is hard work too, I went to work to escape that lol I think he's enjoying the home time with us rather than being at nursery, but hard to not take him out and he does miss his little play mates.

Was on leave last week but will start 'working from home' on Monday but will have my toddler with me as my wife has been classed as a keyworker. That should be fun.

Managed to get out for a short walk most days, but found myself eating and drinking more than I usually would.

At times of great stress, I find playing online Scrabble quite relaxing. One of the most used words in 'qi'. This word means life force in traditional Chinese medicine!

I expect that certain criteria must be met for something to be HCID.  it’s probably used to catch unknown mystery virus’ that may spread into the country

But it's the fact they quietly downgraded it and used phrases like "...more information is available about mortality rates (low overall)" as part of their explanation.

That just doesn't correlate with the rates that are constantly being reported and how we are being told they are doubling every 3 days!!??

There are massive contradictions and it just fuels the anxiety.

All 3 of us in my flat have come down with something at the same time, all started noticing it in the last 24 hours.

I've just got a sore throat (which already feels like it's getting better) with some vile mucus, one of them has a fever and is a bit achy, and the other has the classic fever, cough and is completely zonked.

If it was just me I probably wouldn't even think of it being CV over a normal sore throat but the guy with the classic symptoms makes you think. Could of course have picked up different things but we've also pretty much always been out together over the last week.

But the death rate is still reasonably low, they're working on the assumption it's below 1%. Judging by it, HCID seems to be about genuinely high mortality disease like Ebola that's mortality rate is over 50% and by being categorised as a HCID it means its treated at 5 specialist centres rather than anywhere.

But this is from the Department of Electrical Engineering, not the epidemiologists. The model they produced suggested a most likely peak daily deaths of 260 (upper limit of 330) which ofc was already reached yesterday.

In short, file it under likely bollocks along with the Oxford piece.
