Injuries have ****ed us, not this guy. It's a fair point. I think people expect us to have 4 or 5 centre backs at the level of Evans/Soyuncu. It's not going to happen at a club like ours.

Injuries have ****ed us, not this guy. True. Injuries have fvcked us for the most part. But even if you are a back-up, you're still expected to play to a specific standard. Bennett didn't reach that standard today (and only today, I'm not sure what else he's done that badly in other games that's worse than anyone else). He was fine on Thursday.

Add on top injuries to madders and Albrighton and the odds were always stacked against us today. I thought we looked ok. Dangerous in front of goal as loris pulled off some cracking saves but we lacked a bit of steel at the back. I'm not a huge fan of Bennett, and he had a mare today, but perspective is needed when you look at the game overall. 1

I'll certainly grant you that, but even then I dont think anybody expected him to play - he was at least 3rd choice sub with no intention of ever actually playing him voluntarily. Im not in any way making excuses for him, just that we got fringe quality performances from fringe quality players

I think he was meant as a backup (and proved it thoroughly) and unfortunately found himself under the spotlight because of our injuries/suspensions. Nevertheless send him back, as he's far, far away from what we aspire to. 1
