First 30 minutes I think most people thought "here we go again." Huffing and puffing. Then we finally got our game on and played how we should be.

Vardy coming back was massive. Instant tempo boost and the wingers were giving service.

 

Please don't put Chilwell back in the team. So much better without him.

More seriously, it was the following:

- The return of Ndidi meant we had a platform to build our game around. He was class.

- Brendan picked a high energy team to force Villa back. Look how few touches Grealish had tonight. RIccy P and Albrighton were selected with one eye on him, and notably Riccy P dropped back a lot tonight and we went down the other side with Justin to attack. That was the tactical change that for me decided this game, on top of many good performances.

- Albrighton is less technical but runs like a Durcaell rabbit on his side. Perez I think is by far the superior player technically, but has Perez affected a game this season as much as Albrighton tonight? I know he scored a hat trick in the 9-0, but Albrighton made things happen over and over. Just a shame he didn't make it 5 at the end.

- James Justin was selected to inject pace and add another threat down the other side, and you have to say he did it superbly.

- Praet kept his place because of recent performances. I think he's more physical than Tielemans and the pressure and defensive work he does is as good as his forward work. Him and Ndidi as a pairing gave us control of the game. Maddison was for me probably our most off-form player tonight, but we still scored 4 because those two ran the show.

Rodgers deserves a lot of credit; I think all of his changes paid off. But we didn't really play an innovative system such as when we went 442 diamond away to them earlier in the season. Tonight it was more a case of our team collectively playing well. For me everyone gets at least a 7 other than Maddison who I felt was a bit weak.

Sven is definitely not going to win Sky Sports guest pundit of the season 19/20.

Chuffed with that. OK, Villa were crap after the first 8 minutes but once we got into our stride, we looked good and improved as the confidence came flowing back.. 

 

Great that Vardy and Barnes got braces. Harvey was excellent in particular. 

 

Ndidi and Praet bossed midfield whilst Johnny Evans was rock like at the back. 

 

Big shout outs to Albrighton, who was very good indeed too, and Justin who was really fantastic. Deserves his chance now.

After 10 mins the real Leicester came out of hiding.

But Chilly will be back if he is fit. Not based on merit but favourtism. Same as Maddison - love to see him get dropped and regroup too; too many misplaced passes though he will come good.

I think Rodgers did a number on Smith tonight.  After Villa gloating about stopping us with a midfield block and niggly fouls we were noticeably longer and more direct.  Albrighton gave us more width than Perez to avoid the congested middle.

 

On top of that we played quite well :)
