No we don't.

 

Schmeichel, Ward, Justin, Evans, Morgan, Maddison, Albrighton and Vardy are all associated-trained by UEFA standards and home-grown by PL standards. You only need 4 association trained players for a full 25 man UEFA squad, and 8 in the PL. That 8 I've listed there doesn't even include Choudhury or Barnes.

 

The only home-grown merit in keeping Chilwell is that he is one of only three club-trained players we have along with Choudhury and Barnes, but the club would just have to name 23 seniors rather than 25 in the Europa League squad, which isn't a big deal given our 25 man squad this season has had Jakupovic, Amartey and James in who have played a combined 5 minutes in all comps.

 

FWIW, Knight, Dewsbury-Hall, Muskwe, Eppiah, Johnson and Ndukwu are all now classed as senior players and could fill one of those 1/2 spare slots if the club wants to keep hold of them.

How in the flying **** can you rate Ben Chilwell as a world class left back, the FIFA rankings are a load of old tosh and we're only there because we beat Panama, Tunisia, Sweden & Colombia (on pens) and bottled against any team that remotely matched or bettered our quality  . So you're telling me, Eric Dier is world class as well then?

If he wants out and is pushing for a move, again, then let's sell him. His stock is bloody high, and £60mill/£70mill will help us buy stock in positions we hugely need upgrading in.

If the World Cup was tomorrow and the FIFA rankings are to be believed, if it went to form then the semi finalists would be Brazil, France, Belgium and England would play. 
 

Chilwell would be England’s starting left back. Logic suggests he’s in the top 44 players in the world, but taking into account some great players from otherwise poor teams, let’s be pessimistic and say top 100??

 

if that’s not world class maybe someone can tell me what is??

I can't tell if you're taking the piss here still but I'll bite. In what world does any of that logic make sense  . Ben Chilwell is an average left back, but he does play in the world you are correct. you can't have 100 world class players, it doesn't make sense. That term is branded on the absolute elite, Ben Chilwell is nowhere near an elite left back. He's a mid table left back in the premier league.

To even expand on that, if you consider the premier league to be the elite football competition, when we won that title, would you have classed danny simpson, wes morgan, robert huth .etc. as world class players?

I'd argue he's a lot better than midtable, he is a top 6 defender. But no, he isn't world class.

Is he top 6 though based on what he's shown this season? I mean it's all semantics, we can agree that he is by no means at all a world class player.

Jamal Lewis, Alex Telles, Matt Targett, ahead of those 3 and there's no way on earth CHO or Tomori would come here or Chelsea would let them go.

You’re good at disagreeing, but not so good making a counter point.

 

if he’s in the top 50-100 current players in the world - where there are 170 odd countries, then the number of better players is less than the amount of countries in the world.

 

so if the best players were evenly distributed to each country then he’d be the best player in a country. 
 

I can’t think of a better definition of world class.

I've already made a counter point, but i'll continue even further on. Greece in 2004 won the euros, by your logic there 23 man squad was the best in europe, and winning the 2nd premier tournament would make those 23 men the 2nd best players in the world?

the noise is all coming out of the Chelsea camp cos they do exactly the same with all transfers. we dont conduct ourselves in such a way and i know there is a lot of people at lcfc that get pissed off by the lack of class from some clubs

Fuchs is not good enough anymore unfortunately and we can’t pin everything on Thomas on the back of three games. If Chilwell goes, we need a replacement

Would be very high risk after 3 league games. Could possibly target someone like tagliafico or Telles then in 3 years when they inevitably move on Thomas would be a lot more experienced and still only 22.

Those who seem to have a decent knowledge of the club suggest he'll be out on loan next year. A year of solid games for Thomas may help him make that next step

We will persist with Thomas but a youngster like him will probably suffer inconsistent form ..... I don’t believe Fuchs is now reliable enough to start too many games at the level we want to be at.  So relying on those two is unfair on both of them imo.

Think that would be a mistake if we want to play with wingbacks, I think Thomas needs one more season with playing some games to cover Europa with fuchs being 3rd choice
