Good business if we pull it off imo. Solves our CB problem, without spending on the fee. Be good to have options of Söyüncü, Evans, Benkovic and M.Sarr (and Wes!). Think we’ll need all of them at some point tbh

fox_up_north Posted 27 August 2020 Posted 27 August 2020 This window is a very weird one. I honestly don't see us having anyone in place by the time the season starts and don't think many will, either. I think clubs want to see players having gone home and quarantined for a bit.

Last season admittedly was a bit quieter, but we did manage to bring in Tielemans. Not exactly that terrible in the grand scheme of things

It feels like a paradox in respect of players as the clubs make enquiries but the players don't want to go there, hence why we are struggling to get deals over the line.

It definitely wasn't an option to buy, hence why it took us two months to negotiate a deal. 4

If there was there would have been no excitement with Big Daddy and his plane spotting heroics, and then the whole thing would have been extremely boring.

Stephen Hughes Posted 27 August 2020 Posted 27 August 2020 I’m too impatient. As soon as Chilwell was sold I wanted us to sign someone. However I realise that it isn’t as quick as that, yet still feel somewhat deflated that nothing concrete has circulated.

Regrettably @Ric Flair we don't know that - he may have only been prepared to talk to clubs willing to pay him a signing on fee of £X or weekly wages of £Y, both being beyond our budget. He's probably got a six figures a week deal at Chelsea and he wouldn't have got that with us. 1
