40 million quid is more than we paid for Soyuncu, Ndidi, and Evans COMBINED! :ill:

It will be £31M. Hard to judge what the add ons will be.

Just saw it is 40m Euros and not pounds sterling.

No new transfer record unless the add ons are achieved then

Unfortunately for Claude one of the Clauses is a £7m bonus for winning this Carabao Cup this year...

I’d imagine the terms on those add ons mean that if we pay them the guy has succeeded as we think he can, and if that has happened, he will likely be worth Maguire money or more.

I kind believe Puel is right, we buy him now and loan him back to them for a year to gain experience, if we wait a year i believe his value will double and clubs like arsenal or Liverpool will go for him

You can see it now though. We pay £30m now, and loan him back. He has a stormer of a year and next year before he's even here, Liverpool offer £65m. Next thing you know, he's following Xherdan Shaqiri on twitter....

For every Soyuncu there's a Benkovic. Very big risk if these figures are accurate. Nervous about this one.

So you're saying we should buy Bennett as well to offset Fofana?

CB prices seem to be at a premium, and you don't need to be able to defend as well.  I think I might dust off the cobwebs and come out of retirement.

Think it doesn't help that so few have transferred this window, makes it much more difficult.

He must be some player if we're willing to pay so much for him.

Always a risk for someone so young. Nothing to do with talent but he hasn't developed physically fully yet or gained the experience of playing at this level.

But if he is that good then he will be a 100 million player in a couple of years.

Looking good to me if Saint Etienne are now looking at centre backs

❤️AT THE HEART OF THE CLUBS [MERCATO]

🤔 Who to replace Wesley #Fofana ?

👋 To compensate for the possible departure of the central defender of the @ASSEofficiel , the Greens have already surveyed 2 leads

💵 An offer has even been made for the Toulousain Bafodé #Diakité”

The player Saint-Etienne are looking at from Toulouse is similar to Fofana in certain aspects, young, highly rated, and will likely not be cheap

“The #ASSE made an offer for Bafodé #Diakite . The central defender of #TFC is estimated at 7.2M € (transfermarkt). The 19-year-old is ahead of Wesley #Fofana and even William #Saliba , for the moment, in the hierarchy of young people in the French team.”

Hang on. Shouldn’t we just bid £10m for this lad?

Imagine Puel’s face

Quick! Stick an €80 million offer in.

Don't tell me they're gonna get a better player for 20% of the price?! 😅

The article doesn't say that... England currently have Eric Dier in the national team, I can't believe anyone other than Southgate or Spurs fans think he's actually a good international player and that there aren't more deserving player's that should get in the England squad.

Lots of French fans were calling for Fofana to be called up in the recently friendlies.

I think Fofana has yet to show his ability at a high level consistently so I'm worried about the fee.
